If my anniversary is 31st May and I have a flight on that day that will get me over the line to jump to Platinum, will it count if I am in the USA?

Does Qantas go on the local time zone and not that in Australia as when I take the flight it will technically be 1st June in Australia.

Isn't it the date of the flight that counts here? If it doesn't post immediately, it will back date plus they hold off on assessing any changes to status for a couple of days to account for any late end of year activity

It's the date of the flight that counts - i.e. the date on the boarding pass. I'm not sure about QF but I know VA can take weeks to calculate your next years' status, which is why the entitlements on the card expire a month after your year end.

Flight date - of the origin of the flight - is what counts no matter the timezone

so yeah, 31 May flight will get you there :)

Scheduled departure date. Even if the flight is delayed and departs the next day, it is scheduled departure date.

I am sure there is intelligence in the system that can see your forward booking as twice I have relied on booking very close to the anniversary date and QF have comped me the status.

Thanks all. I thought that must be the case but didn't want to chance it as I will be running it very tight.

I had this happen in Jan last year from a flight I took on the last day of my year. They will credit the SC's into the year ended even though the date of transaction in the activity summary will be a few days later. There will be a little symbol showing they don't count in the new year of earning.

How about the Aquire 50% SCs promo, will the bonus count for day of departure even if posted a few weeks later?

On my activity statement for bonus SC offers the extras were processed and dated about 2 days after travel, but in the description had the original date of travel - if you needed to argue it, I guess it would be at their discretion...

Looks like there is no clear cut policy about bonus SCs. I called QF to ask and apparently they have to check and get back to me...

Got an email clarifying all SCs are added to the date the flight was taken, even if they are posted 6-8 weeks later.
