STATUS HOLD? (Unable to fly due to operation)!

I have to say I would much prefer consistent rules
For example:
NO comping of Platinium. However if you have done X we will automatically offer you WP for X points
No comping of Platinium. How ever if you have done X we will offer automatically offer a challenge.

It is the inconsistencies that make it difficult to work out if you have a chance or not so to speak.

EXACTLY my point over the years on many things in this forum. Heavens publish it so everyone knows.. then if you don't make the cut you know why and you can't complain, or I suppse you can, but you shouldn't expect anything more.

This is the problem with QF in SO MANY WAYS that the inconsistency brereds expectation that can then be dashed... specially when one hears stories or reads about experiences here and then suddenly "Why wasn't I offered ...." (whatever) or "So-and-so had this happen, but I didn't.. it's so unfair!" and so on and so forth.

Many other airlines are far more consistent with how they run things. While some ca say the likes of SQ is very rule based(as their society in general is) one can pretty much guarantee that one flight will be fairly much like the next and the instances where standards are not kept are far more rare.

When I deal with QF I feel(some may disagree with this :) ) that I actually expect less than I get more often than not because of these inconsistent experiences. I mean I'm sometimes delighted by some lounge or inflight food offerings rather than the slop I expect more or less. The other day the PB queue was honoured on a domestic flight and yes, I was surprised in a good way as I do not normally expect this.

However many others base their expectation on other things and it is quite understandable when these are not met. A classic example related to status hold is the offers of paying points to retain status(since the comp seems to have mostly gone away)... some get it.. others do not. What is the rationale? Who knows? Document it QF and I think people would be much "happier" knowing what the deal was rather than it being opqeue and seemingly inconsistent.

QANTAS - Consistently Inconsistent(tm)

As the 'silver.........no longer member' who started this conversation, I haven't wasted my time seeking an extension your replies have enlightened me (thanks for all your input.) My main reason for having QFF points is to 'try' and apply for upgrades (with my 900,000 points).........now even 'less' likely with bronze.
Due to my operation, when I can fly, it will need to be with my foot/ankle elevated................hello business class.
At that time, I shall now purchase a business class ticket NOT however, with Qantas!
.....................Understand Qantas is a business, etc, etc however this is an individuals reaction to a business's.............loyalty.

if you have 900k points, that's enough for a number of J (Business) class flight rewards. Now you have to be quick on your feet/flexible to grab these, but that is an option to aim for to use your hard earned points.

Unfortunately the difference between Silver and Bronze is not terribly much in terms of the upgrade pecking order (and for rewards) so having it probably would not have influenced the outcome terribly much specially on popular flights.

I hope things improve physically for you either way.
