Hi when you have reached your gaol in Status credits for the year and have excess over your target do the excess get carried over to next years points.?

We all wish,

You have start again and then requal

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you are talking Qantas Frequent Flyer or Virgin Australia, then the answer is no.

Some programs will roll over the equivalent of SC's. Flying Blue recently introduces something like this.

Will make silver and have about 70 sc over the 300 needed

Silver is great! Not!
You will get NOTHING in the way of increased Classic or Any Seat award availability - anywhere or anytime.
You will receive a pair of electronic luggage tags - whatever.

The QF FF program is a big fat con.
What was previously a valuable reward scheme, is now a joke.
Melbourne to London First class one way - 192,000 points (caveat - "your flight from Singapore to London will be in economy").
Check it out!

Every so often there needs to be a dislike button... Did you really need to post the above text?

For the record, PS is still something, and it does give improvement in seat choices, larger baggage allowances, J checkin, quicker access through security at some airports / with certain airlines, and there is the knowledge that you are no longer a wollis frequent flyer, you are now the real thing.

if you are in gaol what good are status credits going to do!!!

(Sorry had to laugh at your typo)

I think it's fair to say that, unless you are trying to reach a life time status, most would look at crediting excess miles/credits to another frequent flyer program, which may include flying on different airlines altogether, while using the QF status for lounge access, etc.

Don't forget about the loyality bonus.....

FWIW I'll shortly be asking the very same question. After 16 years as a QFF I'm 800 SC shy of hitting LTG....do you push on or go & experience something new!

If you're with Velocity you could give the excess SCs to someone in your family pool.

For 70 SC I wouldn't bother. It'll just go to waste in the other program. Much better to enjoy the limited but tangible benefits of silver.

This year the forecast is to hit 4,100 overall and 3000 on QF metal... In theory 300 on QF are wasted and 200 on other OW metal are wasted. Although it is looking like I will go from Lifetime Silver to Lifetime Gold in 20 months.

Someone who is silver will probably never get a loyalty bonus thanks to the annual SC reset on those now.

800SC to lifetime gold. I'd go for that. You never know when the travel might slow down, or if the goal posts for LTG will be 'enhanced'.

This may not be a big deal for you, but remember, everyone has to start on the status ladder somewhere. I remember when I first reached PS back in 2000 (just after the demise of AN). It was a great feeling. Back then, PS did get a lot better seating options than it does today, but it still has relevance today. The OP may only just be starting off, and once you have had a taste of elite status, you want more (lounges, upgrades, seating etc).

Is it really fair to diss' the OP based on your feeling of PS (noting that you yourself are a PS)? I don't think so. As a WP, if someone says they have PS I don't say 'pfft i'm WP' I say 'congrats. now onwards and upwards' and educate them how to get more bang for their buck, and move up in the tiers.

Define 'Con':
con 1 |kän| informalverb ( conned , conning ) [ trans. ]persuade (someone) to do or believe something, typically by use of a deception
I fail to see how QFF is a 'con' here. Sure, people may feel the value of points are not what they used to be and that's true, but with 100% bonus for SG and WP, all the earning options including partners and credit cards, it's like inflation: the price is just going to keep going up.

The fact you're stating information about the London F fare is not representative of a con. It is stating something that you, and indeed most of us feel is not a good way to represent the information, but the program does clearly state that if you travel on a multi-class booking, the highest cabin on that trip will be used to calculate miles. The QF Website just needs to display it better, but it's certainly not conning you by showing it to you, it's just frustrating.

If you don't like it, move elsewhere. I believe that's what they say (and don't expect the other side of the fence, at least in terms of AU domestic carriers) to be any greener for 'bang for buck' with points redemptions).

I struggle every year to maintain silver. It's worth it for the advance seat selection and occasionally the extra luggage.

I also just worked out that it gives me free luggage and priority boarding on AA, so that's nice.

It is also a lot more obvious than it was.

Agreed (although it's still a little misleading; it would be better if they had a clearer way to display it rather than the ! and showing it on the next page).

it's still a good program boosted by reading all the posts in AFF. ....as they say..."work (fly) smarter not harder"

drewbles.
Please accept my apologies if anyone thought I was dissing the OP. I most certainly wasn't. I was dissing QF programme. After busting my buns for almost 10 years, I finally made silver 4 months ago. And I find that reward availability is no better than when bronze. i.e. that QF still has ZERO availability in J to Europe on every Thu Fri Sat Sun next June July. I was just trying to convey the disappointment that bobe must inevitably feel when trying to spend his/her points.

Re: vote with your feet? That's exactly what I have done.

One last point. On a recent J redemption from MEL-LHR routing via SYD, the little "i" informed me "your flight from Sydney to London will be in economy"! Now one can argue that the "i" informs you before you buy but it's still a joke.
