Hi all,

I need to acquire another 80 SC to retain Gold by June 2013 but am not planning to travel anywhere til there due to the arrival of our 2nd baby. Is it worth calling/writing to Qantas and ask if they can waive the required 80 SC and keep me on Gold for another year? Has anyone taken this approach, and have any success in the past? I've been Gold for 4 years straight.

Cheers,

TT

There's always the chance they'll comp you if you fail to make it this year, but that said, you could take a cheap day-trip JASA (provided you haven't used all your points) and that'd sort it out right there.

As samh004 says. You are much safer doing a JASA SYD-CBR-SYD (or similar) if you really want to ensure your Gold rather than hoping they will comp you.

I just checked my account and I have been comped for another year to WP. That's two years in a row now. Last year I was 90 points off and this year I'm 150 points away with still 27 days remaining. They gave me double SC points since December which I have been taking advantage of to get near the magical redemption number and I was planning on making one more final SC run to get the 150 I needed, but now I don't need to.

Dunno how many other people have experienced getting comped for another year when they are close, but as I said I've had it two years running now
