Hello. I am trying to work out how many status credits I'd earn if I fly MH in Business Class with my Qantas FF card. I can see the point earning tables online but can't find the status credit table.

Without saying where you are flying from and to it is a bit hard to say if it is right or not. But based on the number it is MEL/SYD to Europe via KUL then it is roughly correct.

It's Per - Kul - LHR return :)!

Just a thought, and going by previous threads referring to your Platinum status...PER/LHR/PER via KUL on MH would earn you 520 Status credits and 13736 Qantas points. However PER/LHR/PER via DXB on QF flight numbers will earn you 480 Status credits and 45150 Qantas points. :)

Given that SCs are more important than FF points, that makes MH more attractive. To me, anyway. And I suspect possibly to many others on AFF.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

30,000 points may be useful for a JASA somewhere....

30,000 points would just about get me a one way JASA from ADL - MEL, which would give me the 40 SCs that I would have got by flying MH in the first place but would leave me in MEL needing a flight home. 30,000 points would not get me a one way JASA from ADL - SYD on any dates that I can see, or anywhere further than that.

As always, YMMV :)

I would be interested to see the price difference between MH and EK (QF number)

Can someone post the price comparison; and maybe Red Roo can comment ;)
(would do it myself but not easy on phone)

From AU, in biz, difference is ~$5,000. $10K difference in First (assuming via SYD ex PER)
In Y, I'd probably go with QF as the price difference is not as great. But for Y+, you can get MH J for the same price as QF Y+. No brainer which one you'd choose.

Agree with others that the points mean very little, especially when you are accumulating more than enough.

Back on my desk computer. Via Zuji on a random date in May:
MH Per-Kul-Lhr return in J : $5572.60
QF Per-Dxb-Lhr return in J: $8586.62 (Per-Dxb on EK metal)

I think I know which one I would choose:idea:

But is that QF price on QF numbers for the entire flight?

Of course - you need to look at the whole cost and earn ratios. Given the relative prices I know which one I'd be choosing :)

Yes....dates were out 13 May, in 20 May on zuji.com.au
Out of interest, on same dates in J Per -Lhr return:

British Airways AUD 8,668

Emirates AUD 8,583
Finnair AUD 6,655
Lufthansa AUD 8,680
Qatar Airways AUD 7,482
Singapore Airlines AUD 8,958
South African Airways AUD 7,526
Virgin Australia AUD 8,371

Are you allowed to imply that people should fly with MH? ;)

Perhaps if I feel the need to explain my post is a massive big joke, I shouldn't post it. :?:
