SoIf you don't get the room you booked then call SPG immediately. I suspect they are giving you a lower floor room and will just add club access. They seem to class higher floors as Executive even though they sell them without club access.

Alls well that ends well, ended up in room I booked, City View Exec (19th floor), of course as gold in fairly full property no upgrade. Was actually nicer than some of the rooms that we've been upgraded to as Platinum.

Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel.
Booked one night in a Classic Non-smoking Room: King Bed.
Hot Escapes - Spg Members Get Extra Savings Off Sale Rate 10% for $105 Euro.

Was upgrades to a Junior suite.

Hi all, would like some clarification, hope the community can help. I have tried asking spg (email, phone) but nobody can answer me.

Ok, I registered for the World Mastercard SPG Gold promo a year plus ago. Got upgrade to gold after one night stay. Sadly, my gold status is now expired, wasn't able to achieve the nights/stays needed.
I have a new World Mastercard, and got the bank promo code from my bank. I tried to enter the promo code, first 6 digit of the credit card to register, but the spg website return "already registered".
Does that mean:
1. I cannot enjoy this promotion again? Only once per account? or,
2. I just need to stay another night to get back gold?

Thanks.

SPG does not allow the SPG Account who has signed up for this offer before, to sign up for the new offer (in subsequent years).

If you know someone who is a big time platinum they can gift it to you :) (gold status that is)

Status: Preferred Plus (Gold Light)
Property: Sheraton on the Park
Room Booked: Cityview Club Room (SPG points transferred from AMEX)
Room Received: Same as above, but corner room and march larger with full walk in robe and hallway.

Fantastic Food options in the Club Lounge and while the view from the rooms not fantastic, its better than expected. This is my first stay at a hotel in years without top tier status so was going to go one of two ways and certainly better than expected. Seems that Preferred plus guests get treated as gold here as all gold benefits and gold key card holder supplied.

Property: Le Metropolitan Paris
Booked: Classic Room
Rate: 70K Club Carlson points
Received: Deluxe Room

Boutique hotel in Trocadero with direct views of Eiffel Tower. Used to be Radisson Blu and recently became part of SPG Tribute portfolio. Originally I booked using CC points and was pleasantly surprised to see it became part of SPG where I'm platinum member compared to just gold with CC.

SPG status was recognised but was told all suites are booked so could only get upgrade to Deluxe. The only lift in the hotel didn't work and our room was on the 5th floor! We got help with luggage but it wasn't pleasant to walk up and down the stairs each time. Lucky we are still relatively young and fit. The room was tiny, we struggled finding where to put two large pieces of luggage. At least the view was spectacular.

Platinum benefits were two bottles of water in the room, box of macaroons and choice of local gift or continental breakfast. Loved the Nespresso machine, wish all hotels will put one of those on top of just instant coffee option.

Breakfast is a-la-carte, told them as SPG platinum was always offered full breakfast at other properties and they said no problem, can order anything from the menu. Service and quality of food were both very good.

Property: Le Dokhan's Paris
Booked: Deluxe Room
Rate: 70K Club Carlson Points
Received: Attic Suite

Another former Radisson Blu boutique hotel that became part of SPG Tribute portfolio, located just 400 meters from Le Metropolitan but completely different in style. While Le Metropolitan has modern style and decor, this one is traditionally French style.

Check in was very friendly, was told I'm the first SPG Plat to stay here since the transition just a few days prior. Got a suite upgrade on the top level (6h floor), was offered continental breakfast and 4pm late checkout. Unlike Le Metropolitan, this hotel had proper concierge who gave us good dining tips in the area.

The only lift in the hotel worked well, thanks god! It's a beautiful vintage lift decorated in Luis Vuitton style.
The suite was beautiful and very French but it was small, by far the smallest suite I've even stayed in. The price tag of ~€650 is huge ripoff but I guess it may seem acceptable in this city considering the location. The suite did have nice French tub fitted with spa jets, nice touch!

Two bottles of water in the room, box of cookies and some chocolates were added on the pillows at turndown.
Breakfast was a-la-carte, again had to mention Plat status to get the full menu option.

In conclusion, generally I'm not huge fan of boutique hotels as they don't always offer all the benefits. For example I couldn't use an upgrade cert. Also rooms at boutique hotels are usually on the small side but not necessarily cheaper.
Having said that we really enjoyed our stay at Le Dokhan's. It has the one big advantage of boutique hotels - personality. Instead of staying in just another generic hotel chain where rooms look give or take the same all over the world, it's nice to experience local style.
Regarding Le Metropolitan, it wasn't too bad but next time I'll give this property a miss.

Status: Preferred
Property: Sheraton Park Lane London

Booked: Classic Room
Rate: 48,000 points for 4 nights (5th night free), booked before cost went up to 20,000 per night
Received: Deluxe room

No status but sent a special request before my stay with no expectations whatsoever. Was already happy with 48k points spent for 5 nights before property changed from Cat 5 to Cat 6. Upon checking in, was told upgraded to Deluxe. Rooms are in recently renovated wing, very impressed and happy with the room. Other wing is still under renovation but no problems for me. Make a green choice means I can earn additional 2k points from this stay.

Rates were high at my usual H SYD tonight so decided to split my trip into two hotels and try out the Westin using my Preferred Plus (not much) status.

Room Booked: King Superior Tower Room
Room ReceivedL King Tower Premium Room ( Top room type below exec lounge access)
4pm checkout granted.

The room is certainly not my cup of tea (Very Beige..Imagine the old Emirates lounge styling without the wood.)
Service so far is friendly but slow (Pillow order took an hour)

Side Note: Room Service prices are crazy here...Obviously it is pricey at most hotels but I've certainly not seen peppermint tea for $8 or a juice for $20 anywhere else (plus an $8 delivery fee no less)

Blue Palace Elounda

Gold

Booked King room with pool (1 level off base)
Got Mezzanine Suite.

No idea how many level upgrade, but didn't expect it at all
Also free internet and welcome drink.

Very nice property. Large and feels it, unlike, say, CM Rangali.
No real complaints, though some of the other rooms would feel a lot less private. When walking around the place I can see into most room/pools but my block and a few higher seem to be the exceptions.
Prices at the property are high for the area but ok compared to home.

Superb experience from check in through check out, through leaving bags until after watching the mighty Western Bulldogs dominate at the MCG

The Hermitage Jakarta

No Lounge here, got a free drink (inc coughtails) per night, with one selection from a canape menu. Breakfast was also included, so got SPG points on sign in. Wouldn't stay again though...

Le Meridien Jakarta
Booked: Superior Room
Received: Executive Suite
Fantastic Lounge staff, decent selection each evening. Not as good as Le Meridien KL, but still very good.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
Booked: Grande Room
Received: Grande Suite
Fantastic Plat Breakfast at Rossini Restaurant. Love the evening coughtails at the Jazz lounge!

The Naka coughet
Seriously, not even worth mentioning! Had to pay for a better room, no upgrade, but I got breakfast...

SPG status: Preferred Guest Plus (thanks to Marriott linkage)

Four Points Perth
Booked: Superior King Bed, incl. breakfast - $233.24
Received: Deluxe King Bed room - level 6, 2nd top floor, one of the SPG floors.

So, really, a higher room. I didn't particularly care as I was only there for one night. Though, since the Marriott linkage, I am getting higher floors with my SPG property stays, even though my status is spitting distance from pleb. :p
