Its not much of an article really is it. I think I have seen better reviews here ;)

A mate and I flew JQ Star Class (first time for either of us) to Vietnam in January and both agreed that there was very little that we could complain about.

We found the seats quite comfortable and roomy enough, although for two persons travelling together, seating on the sides might be a preferred option rather than in the 3 abreast centre row.

The in-flight service from the friendly cabin crew on our particular trip was first rate, and whilst some may have been a little critical of the meals, we both enjoyed what was on offer that day.

The full business class rate of award points was also a plus.

I can't really advise whether one should pay the extra to travel in this class rather than in Economy, but for what it's worth...
Would we fly JQ Star Class again?? Without doubt - YES! (Atbow)

I think Jetstars publicity material may be a little out of date going by the last paragraph

* From August 2008 the airline will begin taking receipt of 12 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the first airline in the Qantas group and the first airline in Australia to operate these aircraft.

Chances of this happening in AUgust 2008 are?

Jetstar offers to bring business-class service at an international economy fare and the class-dividing curtain alone ensures a level of exclusivity.
I really do not understand why Jetstar keep referring to international economy fare? Do they mean full economy fare? It is priced nowhere near any economy fares I have seen lately.

How can one compare the price for Jetstar *Class return SYD-BKK at ~$2470 with TG WHY return SYD-BKK for ~$1000 or CX WHY return SYD-BKK for ~$1140 or SQ WHY return SYD-BKK for ~$1145. I know which I would choose even taking into consideration the extra 5cms width.

In fact the 3 WHY options above are all competitively priced with Jetstar WHY prices once you include all the extras. Is that false advertising from Jetstar?

I think you'll find what they're doing is being a bit clever with their wording and referring to a full Y airfare rather than the discount Y fares you and I would consider a valid comparison.

Having said that, full Y on TG in May is only $2038 inc tax.

God bless onestar and their marketing departments play on words!!

'Tis advertising/spin/whatever ...

As long as there's an economy fare out there similar to the JQ fare it's ok. It does not matter that anyone who knows what they are doing is unlikely to ever book it.

e.g. For return SYD/BKK, fare code YLFFOW is $2152 base with $351 in +++ giving $2503.

If we're comparing apples with apples, ie discount fares with discount fares and full fares with full fares.

I've recently returned from a trip to Japan in *class. The 'promo' fare cost me around $1200 return SYD-KIX. That compared favourably with the Qantas whY return fare at the time SYD-NRT of around $1500

I was more than happy and the only complaint I had was with the quality of the food. The service and comfort were good, the bar was well stocked and in my opinion the price was a steal.

Stating that the seats are 5cm wider (JohnK) is misleading. In whY Mrs P and I normally sit shoulder to shoulder but in *class there was easily 20cm between our shoulders which would suggest that with 10 cm extra on EACH side, the extra useable width is more like 20 cm per seat.
At 6'+ I'm more interested in the extra pitch though.

I'm no fan of Jet*'s business model and think that their customer service (on the ground) is apalling but have to admit that once in the air, my only two complaints so far are the food in *class and the lack of seat pitch on the right hand side of the A320 forward of the exits. I've yet to experience the 'couldn't care less' attitude that I occasionally come across in QF whY

Same same.

I looked at the Jestar website for *class airfares departing 15 June and returning 29 June. I then checked the same dates on Zuji and it returned those 3 full service airlines with those airfares.

Please don't you start using full economy airfares for comparison as well. It is enough that Jetstar is doing it.

And how many promotional airfares SYD-KIX for Jetstar *class for the same price have you seen since then?

Sorry Colin but that is what the article states. So if anyone is misleading blame the writer of the article as I did not do any research on Jetstar *class seat width, not that I care to be honest.

The 38 seats in StarClass - at 24 centimetres, five centimetres wider than the 265 seats in economy - are all equipped with in-seat power and adjustable lumbar support
