SriLankan Airlines has a 3 day sale to "any" of their destinations.

44% off business class and 25% off economy class for travel 15th September to 30th November 2023.

There's some good business class fares from Australia available.

Eg MEL-LHR return is just over $4,000 in business class. There's long transits on that route in Colombo but accommodation is usually provided.

Thanks! I saw the offer but the cheapest business class I could find was over $8000. I had a feeling it should be somewhere closer to $4-4.5k.

Should earn some SCs for QFFF as well.

Edited to add… I just found the ‘flexible with dates’ option. Looks like the $4k is fairly limited. The most common price is $4900, with a few dates at the 8k+ range.

There’s some horror stories here on the provided hotels but at that price, booking your own you’re still in front by 1 or 2k.

You have to play around with dates and duration but if you eg search MEL-LHR 16th-24th October in business class, you'll see some $4,086.58 fares for many flights around those dates eg 13th-27th October and others:

I used to really like flying UL but the latest reviews look pretty poor and not sure how much capital they have to continue operating

At the pathetic rate that QF dish out.
MEL-CMB comes in at a whopping 60SC’s in J
That’s standard partner earn Oz to Asia post “Simpler & Fairer”.

Disincentive or taking their loyal customers for a ride? The intended inclusive and shared benefits of Oneworld don’t work for their founding member Qantas when they stand to lose less than their exorbitant margins on protected routes. One way streets only.

That's 120 SCs return. And CMB-LHR earns 240 SCs return. So MEL-CMB-LHR total is 360 SCs return.

For QF flights, MEL-LHR in discount J, it's 560 SCs return. But the QF fare is at least $5,000 more.

Not disagreeing with that but still doesn’t make it right that QF punish you for choosing a OW partner to a destination they don’t even fly to. 60 SC’s in J is utterly disgraceful IMO

OT, but there was much discussion and angst about 10 yrs ago when those changes came in.

It’s the same for BA, AY to/from SIN, JL to/from TYO, CX to/from HKG etc. The onward flights to Europe (if heading that way) are generally pro-rata better SCs. Except for QR (or a OW codeshare) to/from DOH where the tables are slightly worse...

Understand that but still a bitter pill to swallow and hence why I switched away from QF to BA.
I know it’s OT but my vague recollection was that for some reason ADL-HKG on CX used to get almost double the SC’s of SYD/MEL/BNE

and PER even more. Especially DOH.

QF ”Simpler & Fairer” (TM) is neither simpler nor fairer.
