SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I had to cancel MEL-EU return for Mrs C and I a few weeks ago (a mix of J & F). Rep asked why I was cancelling and I replied "cancer". The USD$75 (x4) was immediately waived - brilliant service.

One question, though - how long does it take for the points to return to your KF account - it's been 3 weeks so far? I want to book 2020 in the next week or so.

Sorry to hear that :( (but well done KF)

coriander firstly so sorry to hear of your news - but YES it can take that long for pts to return but I would definitely be calling to chase them up - I will pm you a contact.

Just playing around with dummy bookings for 2020. I want to go MEL-DBV (and RHO-ATH-MEL three weeks later, but I'll research that one later).
The SQ website offers me only MEL-xSIN-xMUC-DBV but MUC-DBV is an OU Dash 8.o_O 117,500 points for the trip.
I can search/see MEL-xSIN-FRA (116,000 pts) and separately see Star Alliance FRA-DBV on an OU A319 (30,500 pts).
I'd prefer A319 over Dash8.
Is there any way to combine MEL-FRA and FRA-DBV onto one ticket/PNR and hopefully pay only 117,500 points?

May struggle with the JFK flights unless you’re prepared to go the full rate for at least 1 seat.

Pretty popular route for the Americans given only SQ A380 and their insanely generous points game over there.

I just did F CBR-SIN-FRA-JFK as a reward flt in old suites. I needed to do lots of WL and be very flexible. It’s a very tiring route as there’s a long transit in SIN. Look fwd to hearing of yr success, (if redemption bkg).

Just did the booking. We ended up getting off at London. Came out of the blocks late for the seat release date, but was lucky enough to jag 2 x Suite savers (3C/D) for early May. Thinking about Sicily for a couple of weeks.... we can work that out later. Now need to book the return trip.

Decided we'd go the short route and continue to burn the QFF stash for the trips to USA.

Sorry if this has been covered already, I couldn't find any details..

I have a revenue J flight that I was looking to upgrade with miles to F. Currently the system is showing only 'advantage' upgrades are available.

Is there any way to waitlist a saver upgrade like you can a saver reward ticket? I've flown both suites before so I'm not too fussed if I miss out.

Hey guys,

I am beginning to plan my second first/suites redemption with SQ.
My first redemption was last year from NRT-MEL in new suites on the second leg, and absolutely loved it. It was all thanks to you guys here who provided plentiful advice to make that happen!!

My plan is to travel from MEL to Europe (CDG) with SQ next JUNE/JULY, and fly return from Athens in Emirates F. I will be requiring 2 seats, as I’ll be travelling with my to be wife for our honeymoon.
As for the outbound flight, it appears the best tactic is to waitlist multiple saver flights around my preferred date of departure and hope for the best?
Having a look out all the bookings from 330 days out now there is no available saver F/R seats for 2 ppl.
I can see that for 1 person it is possible to book a confirmed saver seat now.
So should I just waitlist 5-6 days and hope for the best??

Are you searching for new suites only? I booked 2 x suite savers (old) SYD-LHR a few weeks ago. I found savers were not released on on the day (330(?)) days out), but opened up a day or three later. I managed to book our flights a week + after they were initially released.

I've now booked the flight back LHR-SYD, there were plenty of 2 x suite savers available.... but we ended up going for new because they are so much better.

I'm only new to SQ .... but that's what I found. Good luck!

Any suites....I’d actually prefer old suites to see the difference between new and old!

Hey folks quick question

I thought the new system meant two weeks before a flight, all waitlisted are cancelled?

Have flights in a weeks time that are still waitlisted

Just wondering if anyone’s done, or asked them about back to back 2 x 6 hour bkgs in the Aerotel Transit hotel?
Well you can, but if you have that long why not why not go to a more comfortable hotel just the other side of customs which in Singapore is quick to pass through.

2 x6 hours remove the $ advantage?

I was able to grab MEL-SIN-FRA for the date I wanted, but only in J and on the 777 flights: sheesh they go fast - I checked every hour overnight until my requested day became available and in the space of that hour all A380 F and J were gone/waitlisted). I saw a FRA-DBV flight available and rang SQ - VERY helpful, added the DBV flight onto my itinerary in J for an extra 1500 points.

Very happy chappie here:) !

Unfortunately SQ seem to have reneged on waiving my previous award cancellation fees and there's $166 of cancellation fees on my Amex card :(.
