SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

just got a msg from my relatives, one of their screens wasnt working the entire flight, so they had to move to another seat, so they sat separately and were given $200 credit to spend on the flight or airport,
theyre pretty happy,

yep, is there a problem with that?
Best you be the judge of that - you do understand that the SQ Teddy Bears are loaded primarily as little gifts for kids? And that no adult in R / F / J / PY / Y has a god given right to expect to receive one or more? Yes pax in premium cabins who ask nicely can most times receive them and can also just have them gifted to them out of the blue but there is a limit to quantity loaded - if they are gone they are gone.

First time I have ever heard a pax requesting them post flt but clearly there is always a first time for everything.

Just buy from Ebay
thats a good idea, I will call them, dont really want to pay for them :)

edit: just had a look on ebay, didnt know they were different on F Vs J or aircraft!
Never knew they were available on eBay either but that has given me a wonderful thought - stay tuned for an update.

And there is no diff bears R F J or Y - they are all the same just occasional changes to attire.

Our recent J flight FCO - SIN was not the best experience. Mostly little things but things you notice.
No bowl of nuts with post take off drinks. +1 was given wrong meal. When reported, the FA took the meal and the cutlery. Correct meal delivered but then no cutlery. Call button not being answered. Cold entree of tuna still frozen. Some of the wine choices not available. Wine ordered not arriving, FA reminded. The biggie though was +1's seatbelt not fastening. When reported to the crew they did nothing.

The trick is to ask nicely. May or may not get it but that’s Ok.

FWIW we didn’t receive any for the two suite flights we took last month.... didn’t even think to ask.

Seems strange to ask ... like asking for a child play pack on any other airline.

Better to leave them onboard for the kids IMO

yeah, the only time we were actually given any was when we were onboard in J with our 10month old son.
On a previous solo trip I requested one for my son which they happily presented.
lets see what he gets next month when we fly J on SQ & EVA

On the flip side the Ette consults to schools across AU in the lowest socio-economic areas - many times where refugees reside - many of these families have ZERO in material wealth terms - I get 100s of Teddies and a power of other kids items from SQ crew each year which all end up with these little kiddies who have nothing.

I am never backward in asking and if available crew willingly supply what they have after I explain where they will end up.

But the Ette retiring so I have to hatch another idea how to help the ‘have nots’ - stay tuned.

Well done. We collect for and donate travel stuff to a women’s shelter at work.
But it’s a quandary, as the environmentalist in me hates ALL THE PLASTIC this consumes, but we still do as the humanatiarian wins out. If your idea can check both those boxes, it will be the best thing ever!!
