SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Minor correction but new suites is 3 rows of 2. It’s single aisle.

LOL - it's two 2 rows of 3, left and right! That's what I was thinking when I wrote it.

Anyway - it's 6 in total. It's getting quite hard to get a (revenue) seat to London on the new seats. I'm going on the old A380 and 777 next week.

And so the rot sets in - SIN-ICN-LAX-ICN-SIN disc as of Nov 30 leaving only 4 daily SQ F seats bw SIN-NRT-LAX-NRT-SIN - going to make F Savers nigh on impossible to procure. This is first year I have not been able to auto secure F Saver SIN-LAX 1st avail booking date.

To all those who have been dancing in the street about getting a crack at new R due to pre-booked F Savers I hope you enjoyed it as it may well be your only ever exp - halving of R / F capacity is going to lead to only one outcome.

Is SIN-LAX via NRT? If so.. that's horrendous news for us as competition for SIN-NRT F just shot up.

Just pulled the pin and booked ADE-FRA for September 2019, the SIN-Fra is on the 777-300ER what are your recommended seats for the 3 of us , me, wife and 12 year old son? I selected D,F,K 14 just row 11 and 15 showing as not available

What a great feeling it is

Don't forget the extra special request in F. Due to this forum I'd booked a 'honeymoon cake' for our F flight for mel-sin which was a much surprise to the newly married Mrs tizey. Not sure if can do it in J, but I know this fact doesn't come up a lot in thewe forums but the call centre were easily able to accommodate this for us.

That's great to hear, thanks tizey for sharing. Might try the same for my honeymoon F redemption too. What did you say in the call where you got this arranged?

Called up and asked if there was something special as it's out honeymoon. Agent added it to the meal request and was visible (but not changeable) on the meals under manage booking .

Cheers, thanks for that. Will get the redemption booked soon (wish me luck!) and make the call after that.
Really looking forward to trying out both the soft and hard product on SQ218, I hope SQ continue to bring the big bird to MEL well into the future and not swap it out with the A350/others as has been happening with other carriers such as EY.

Jumping from Y for every flight straight to F/R is massive!

Thanks again.

I’m getting annoyed at the SQ website - trying to pay for a forward seat. A whole $11.30. It’s clearly going through on to my card (can see it in statement) and the seat is reserved but then it bounces off again and charge on card goes away.

On the seat selection website, what's the difference between 'standalone bed' and 'fully-flat bed'? Thanks

I guess the difference between a seat that goes fully flat in to a bed, and a bed which is separate from the seat, such as on the A380s.

in terms of booking, once you have a specific plane, all the seats in the cabin will be the same type.

Just paid for a forward seat 15 minutes ago and went straight through and can see it as a pending payment.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if the same happens as your experiencing.

I do find the SQ website annoying, slow in parts and errors which I believe are related to their use of cookies which caused me an issue when booking last month and I had to ring to complete it.

Does anyone know how SQ288 is treated for points and status credit earn to Velocity?

Is SYD-CBR one sector and then CBR - SIN another? The 2 sectors have the same flight number.

Thanks.

@Milboo It depends how booked which could be SYD-SIN or SYD-CBR-SIN.

If booked as SYD-SIN then that is how it will credit.

(I am not sure it can actually be booked with a SYD-CBR segment.)
