SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I think you have confused yourself massively. It is very simple to check the amount of points required. SQ flights only - check the SQ table. Any leg *A flights (even if you have SQ flights in the booking) - check the *A SQ table. For arguments sake always look at saver availability for what everyone would call the normal cost.

It won’t double by using a *A award.
Maybe i have but i tried to do it online first but i couldnt put in a stop over at cdg. Hence i called up.
The person i spoke to sounded a little reading off a script. So It didnt surpise me when i asked why would the points required double i didnt get a proper reply. Might tinker online again
And yes always saver for me!

Paying double points would never happen in my world :)

PEK-SIN

SIN - SYD SQ221

We have been on the road for over 3 months and I was re-checking these flights today to order Book The Cook meals.

I discovered I had neglected to reserve seats. Managed to secure two seats side by side for the PEK-SIN leg but there was only one seat showing availability on SIN-SYD. I did not select that seat.

If all other seats are shown as not available;

1) Is there a chance of being bumped down?

2) Have we lost our chance of sitting together?

Should I have selected the one available seat for one of us or am I better off leaving things till check in at PEK?

Thanks

My employer has announced a new partnership with a corporate travel provider and is advertising "increased cabin class flexibility". Does anyone have experience with this? I've never used a corporate travel program before.

I would suggest for whatever FF program that you wish to try and use to best advantage that you first look at a Route Map for the airline, its Alliance and Other Partners.

Using routes to their best advantage...combined when required with rail, bought flights etc will lead to the best value redemption.

For the routing that you first indicated flying SQ Metal I can for example get a point cost of 780,000 points. The agents can only book what is available and if Savers are gone (and for complicated routings may never be there at all anyway) you will be priced at full wack. Flying unnecessary legs will often be punitive (though sometimes have created loopholes that price lower than direct).

It just means the flight has reached pre-departure seating allocation. You won’t be downgraded. Whether or not you can sit together could depend on (a) whether there are any blocked seats which SQ can release, or (b) there’s a no show or (c) someone agrees to move on board. But don’t count on the latter one, many people select seats for a reason and may be reluctant to move (unless it’s to a better seat).

Flying to Europe in the pointy end next month. Suites between Singapore and Europe, First between Australia and Singapore. Overnight layover on the way over and full day in Singapore on the way back.

Had several better connections on waitlist and asked for chasers to be sent out, one flight opened up but no connection, so I called up to discuss. Interesting discussion as follows;

I asked for additional flights to be waitlisted and chasers be sent for other flights. I was told the waitlist was full for certain flights, even though they are showing as available online. They told me to try and book them online, but I couldn't as I didn't have any points. They then nearly changed my flight even though that would have left me stranded with a missed connection. They asked me if I wanted to try any other flights to waitlist, I said I wasn't sure and asked what flights would work. They said to have a look online.

I don't know what this post is about, just a very unusual and unconstructive conversation. My booking is still secure and I'm looking forward to it. Sure it's the old suites, but I'm not concerned.

Any advice much appreciated. I have confirmed J class saver reward seats FCO-SIN-SYD and am waitlisted for the same class/day FCO-SIN-BNE (preferred flights).
There are no further J seats available, revenue or award for the FCO-SIN leg but saver rewards are still available for SIN-BNE on the waitlisted flight. I contacted the SQ ticket office number in Brisbane and they said they would send an email to reservations in Singapore but i have heard nothing since. Anyone out there that can suggest how i can get on the BNE flight or an alternate contact?

Forget BNE ticket office - Call KF on +61 2 8228 1188 (Diverts direct to SIN KF office) and ask them to add a W/L for the SIN-BNE sector to your existing booking - nothing complicated here it is quite common.

decent availability in saver J on SQ232 (new A380) which surprised me.
just booked for next Friday 20th to DEL

Had to urgently change my redemption from the 20th to tomo. Still found saver redemption! Rang call centre and they even waived the change fee as my dad is traveling because my grand mother was suddenly sick.. love SQ!

Thanks Cruiser Elite. Will give that a try.

I know this is uber greedy but is there a site or way i could see all availability for all destinstions from a certain city of departure
Maybr say on monthly calendar?

Just to get a vibe of which destinations might not be popular or particular times of year?

Not that I am aware of. It would be very useful though!

Have often had similar thoughts for a where might I go scenario.

they are 2 different tools.

the demo website is for this tool & thread, Flightplan: How to search a year of award inventory - FlyerTalk Forums only started dabling with this one last night but haven't got it going yet

The other one is the older way to do and requires ~$99 to buy imacros license. this is what I've been using but didn't post as its not free. for $99 it saves me lots of time and I needed to rejig the code a little

F or J - just back from a RTW with our 9 month old - was planning on doing a TR of the various bassinets offered

Hey mate, any tips handy? We are off in a few weeks and keen to have my seats locked down but struggling to find any first hand experience on best set up. Thanks.
