SQ now prioritises Qantas over VA?

As mentioned in my other post in the QF A380 thread, I was a bit surprised to find out that Qantas options now frequently appear on the top of possible itineraries when booking flights from a non SQ city (eg CBR, OOL, HBA) on SQ. Some dates still prioritise the VA-SQ codeshare option but there are plenty of Qantas options available under.

Has this been happening for a while? I am aware of an interline agreement between QF and SQ and but didn't expect SQ to prioritise Qantas flights over their codeshare partner and offer plentiful Qantas options alongside VA-SQ codeshare. Thought it would be buried underneath as a last resort. Apparently not. QF is frequently on top.

You have sorted by travel duration, which explains the results you are getting I think. If travel time via VA connection was shorter then it would appear at the top of the list. (Choose ROK, for example).

SQ's main commercial interest is getting the traveller onto SQ metal, whether delivered by VA or QF.

Edit: just to add the default is to sort by travel duration. So that’s what you see when you do a search on the SQ website.

Sort by “Price” would be a key test…..?
