Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been covered before (I'm sure it has!) but I'm not exactly sure what to search for (bed hopping?). :)

I never really thought of SPG Gold as a realistic goal, but due to a 2 for 1 stay credit offer through work (ie: each stay credits as two stays), and an unexpected night in a Westin near DFW, I'm up to 6 stays, and only need two more stays before 31st May to make Gold.

I might be in Melbourne next week and will try to stay at the Westin. It'll likely be a 4 night stay, so I'm wondering how to best turn this into two stays. Should I ask the travel centre to book two separate stays (so a room is guaranteed)? Or should I just book for say 2 nights, then extend my stay on the 3rd night (I've heard that works)?

Would appreciate any advice. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

My understanding with SPG is that you have to leave for a night and return to the hotel to make it 2 seperate stays.

Can you spend one night away from the hotel at another hotel?

Doubt you'd be wanting to travel to Geelong for the 4 pts there! :)

In the Westin NY I did the same (not intentionally ) checked out and rechchecke in - no double dip of stays :(

You're best to have 2 stays for 3 nights by breaking the stay - either two nights first up, then perhaps to the Hyatt next door and then back for a final night. Hope that work don't get confuse with you bed hopping (we'd call it a matress run)

Ahh..mattress run. Makes sense. :)

Unfortunately it's all a bit of a moot point for now - the Westin is no longer on our preferred hotel list. :( I ended up choosing the Hyatt, as Towers was booked out.

I only need one night to reach Silver HHonors too - but unfortunately Hilton Melbourne isn't on our list either. :( Westin, Hilton etc... are all on our list for Sydney, but the Melbourne list has gotten a bit stingy of late.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Thanks Lindsay. Unlikely that I'll stay in a Four Points before the end date, but you never know. Cheers. :)
