This has some correlation to this site based on the Qantas Box office connection, but I don't think it's appropriate for any other forum except the Playground. Interested in similar occurances that others have seen...

A specific email address that has only ever been used in conjunction with purchases from the Qantas Box Office received an interesting piece of spam today.

The email came from the source address "[email protected]", however I believe that to be forged.

It came from a computer connected to the ldp.org.au network, and had the following subject and body:

Which party suits you best?

"Here's a fun and quick political quiz for Australians to help you pick
a side in the upcoming election.

Just 10 questions on economic & social issues and then it tells you how
you line up against the major parties."

It then has a URL referenced under the ldp.org.au domain.

The website belongs to the Liberal Democratic Party.

Did anyone else receive anything similar? I don't particularly appreciate companies either sharing my email address for spam purposes, or alternatively companies having lax security measures that allow my email addresses to be shared with others.

No such email for me, however I don't have an email subscription to Qantas Box Office ...

If I'd received it I would treat it like I treat all literature from Political Parties.

Question.... Is there such a thing as literature from Political Parties :?:

Probably more like propoganda :!:

I was actually quite nice about this piece of spam. If I was in one of my better moods, I would have complained to their ISP to have their website shutdown, their ISP connection disconnected and had them investigated by the AEC (Australian Electoral Commission) for breaches of the Commonwealth Elector Act 1918.

As I had voted earlier this week, I couldn't adjust my polling (but didn't change the fact that they were not on my radar to start with as a contender), and I take to heart the fact that they're a nothing political team who will get nowhere in this election.

Strangely enought they've managed to stay low in the spam forums that I visit and other types of "reporting" data for this type of mischief.
