If anyone has any questions about the basics of a Japan ski holiday or anything else, let me know. I've been to Niseko 7 times now and taken many a newby there, so have a bit of it sussed out.

Cynicor we are going to Niseko in May - have you been outside of the ski season? Would love any tips if you have any

Sorry for the slow reply. Never been outside of the snow times, I don't think many westerners have!

No particular tips for it, do you have any specific questions? It will be quite easy to get around but a rental car would probably be best and driving should be easy.

Interestingly enough summer is actually high season for tourists to Hokkaido. The majority obviously being Asian. Thai Airways actually just up gauged their flights in to Sapporo to 747s.

Unfortunately I haven't been there out of winter so can't provide much advice!

Yeah, it's massive in summer. But primarily domestic and then the rest, as you say, from Asia. Not many whiteys ;)

I find it hard to justify 2 trips there in a year when I have so many other places I want to see, but it looks like it would be quite amazing, beautiful, and full of wildlife.

This looks good if you are a chocolate / confectionery fan:

Shiroi Koibito Park

Also should still be Cherry Blossoms around in early May, I'd be researching the best spots.
