Some island cruising - The Canaries and Sicily, then Milan

At Singapore, I was originally only there for 1 night and I booked an Accor 'Stay Plus' free night (when you only needed to stay 1 night) at the Fairmont, in a Prestige Marina Bay room. With the earlier TK departure, I needed an extra night, so booked a 'cheap' room at the Fairmont, expecting that they would upgrade it to match the second night, and they did.

Annoying check-in experience - on tablets. Busy; condescending guy said don't worry, its easy, but I knew it wouldn't be, because of the 2 bookings. Lot of back-and-forthing but got there - eventually. Annoying, esp the attitude of the 'helper' (male). Silly old guy doesn't understand technology ... Not what you want at the Fairmont.

Plus, they have as many 'helpers' as they would need check-in agents. I guess they pay these people less.

Check out the shub to the left - really wide lip to be stepped over.

But there was a problem. The room was quite warm and after 15 mins I couldn't convince the aircon to give any cool air. The 'helper' had already told me that its sensor operated - when you are out, it turns off. I reported this and impressively, they instantly sent a guy to 'fix'. He manually set the min temp from 21 to 19. Here he is measuring the temp of the air coming out.

The lounge here is really good - large, good views, very nice and varied food (not so much wines) but ... the kids! Both nights, kids running back and forth at full pelt, and at one end of the lounge is a table tennis table - closed off but you can hear the squeals half way up the lounge. Really takes off the relaxation aspect.

This shot was 'out of hours' - usually it was pretty full.

Next day was 'recovery'. The main Fairmont pool was being renovated, so we had the use of the Pullman pool, not far away. They were offering Grab vouchers to go there, but it was only about 7 mins walk. The Fairmont

I'd stayed at the Pullman before, and knew the pool was pretty nice, with a waterfall at one end.

There is also a rooftop pool, but its mainly a bar - no towels provided! I discovered that you can pay S$30 for a G&T.

My now-usual SQ award flight back to Australia. So not much need for the bed and silly footwell.

And then it was overnight at the ParkRoyal at Melbourne Airport, and VA back to Hobart.

Thanks for following along. I know this was very dense WRT history etc but putting it down clarifies it all in my mind.

Thanks once again for a great TR - your attention to detail and history is amazing.

What's the agenda for France

What's the agenda for France

Few days in UK, AFF LHR T3 lounge crawl, then pick up a car in Paris, drive to Vannes in Brittany via Chartres (predictably) then drive an arc inland & touching the coast across to Amiens. Lots of old places, WW2 beaches and WW1 battlefields. The damn Bayeux tapestry is away for site renovation, going to the British Museum for a while, but not yet on display there.

Almost got a 1 night stay at San Souci on the way across to the west, but all booked for that night.

Thanks @RooFlyer for a great trip report.
Lots of great photos and information.
I really enjoyed following along

Looking forward to France my favourite destination!😍
