Some Accounts suspended for "potentially" dodgy points transfers

lack of personal communication from them is a complete joke.

Exactly the point I made on page 1 of this topic - right or wrong, the way they are dealing with members (more than just one letter), especially some very long-term loyal FF is terrible. Especially when it turns out they haven't, like you, done anything wrong.

The cheap online business seats sellers have always worried me as I think they obtain cheap seats using unused points and credit them to the purchaser of a seat. Is this legal ?

Absolutely agree. I am with the Virgin system for the status credits. Once I get the platinum 800 I pool to my partner, and vice versa, so he can maintain his platinum. If we both get there, we then give to his cousin. (no point getting more than 800) . FF points not so important. Have only used the FF points accrued for upgrades or small local fares. Need to get that status. Currently very satisfied with treatment (except for the downgraded meals in business). If that changed, or Virgin started messing me about, no more loyalty, fly Qantas or Virgin. Mind you changed to Virgin because I found Qantas treated you like rubbish even with Qantas club membership in favour of the mining employees during the boom. And Virgin's associates Etihad and Singapore are really good.

Who lives with you and your partner, otherwise you may end up in the same situation as some of those posting here

Depends on the program, but more likely than not to be breaching the t&c's.

Best case - they are just opening an account and buying points on your behalf, so you're just paying a commission
Average case - they are trading points for cash, which is illegal in most cases and potentially puts your ticket at risk of cancellation
Worst case - they are using stolen points or stolen cc's

Hi Princess Fiona
Yes cousin sure does, but we are on the point of moving, so this is a heads up to get it organised. Don't know how we would prove we all 3 live at same physical address though. Use a PO box for most things and go travelling a lot.

I guess maybe drivers licences... or, Stat Dec...

So it has been over 14days since the original post and 127 further post and some OT ….. Has there been any outcome? Many have proclaimed their innocence, but anyone willing to advise why they were targeted ? How many transfers were made to and from etc?

My account has been cleared and the suspension lifted. I didn't have to provide any info to VA, no stat decs, no questions answered... in fact not even a cold generic email to say that all was ok. Bizarre.

That's pretty poor form. I've worked in a fraud team many moons ago, and while I understand they would want to be keeping their indicators confidential, you are owed a 'thank you for your patience, apologies for any inconvenience' at the very, very least.

So amateur hour continues. Great way to leave a bitter taste with high status customers.

It's still continuing... their whole premise is guilty until you prove your innocence on their terms...
I was under the impression from a comment earlier in the thread that people were being asked for statutory declaritions. Did that not help clear the issue up? Seems to have been going on a while....
