So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

First time ever
I’m driving a vehicle that has now done 200000km and owned from I think only 50km or so

The going has been good and it’s utility suggests that I should keep it for the foreseeable future

That all? My first Patrol wagon did 755,000 before I changed it. 4.2 litre petrol on gas. But I suppose it is a truck motor so should go longer. A couple of the Bmers we have had that we liked we've taken over 250,000 but they don't last like they use to. My "sunday drive" is 9 years old this month & has just ticked over 45,000.

I have car with heated and cooled seats. I never use the heating, but my wife loves it. On the other hand, the cooling is nice.

I love my heated seats! For Winter in Sydney it’s generally the only heating I use in the car.

I thought I'd come in here to get a few ideas on what my next car might be, so I've been reading random pages in this thread for about a half hour. I gotta say, even though I know you're all speaking English, it was like I was reading another language. The only 2 things that registered were, Teslas cost 200 grand; and some people keep BMW's as a spare car - neither of which will be a successor to my Mazda CX3 o_O

Pre-owned BMWs can be had for 4 digits! Though they'd have 'a few' miles on them, that's for sure.

Teslas actually start at $130k new for a from-scratch custom order; $120k for new in-stock inventory. You'd be looking at performance models for $200k+, which 99.9% of people won't ever need.

Wheel question:

Current Landcruiser 200 tyre: 285/60R18 rim: 8Jx18
The fitted tyre therefore has a bulging "lightbulb" appearance
If I get an 9Jx18 same offset I will get a rim which is 1 inch wider but still narrower at 229mm total width compared with 285mm tyre width

What would be the change in handling characteristics and tyre wear using the same tyre but wider and heavier rim?

An set of OEM tyres from the Toyota Stealer is $900 per rim
An aftermarket alloy would be in the order of $300 each (subject to correct specs including load rating)

Just took delivery of a new Subaru XV. Top of the range SUV with heated seats, sunroof, leather seats, built in satnav, and all the safety features you can poke a stick at.

Looked at Honda, VW, Mazda and BMW SUVs, but thought the Subi was fantastic value for how it was kitted out at $36k (I bargain hard).

One of the reasons (a major one I suppose) for purchasing a SUV is that, as my wife and I are approaching 70, sedans are simply harder to get into and out of. As I have a company car, my wife will be driving this. With her last car, a Mazda3, she did 40km in 7 years (my company car allows private usage), so given Sunaru’s reputation for reliability, this may be the last car we buy.

Some of you guys must hardly drive to church on Sunday.

I do around 40,000 kms per year. Much for work of course so cars replaced regularly.
Currently less than 20km from work. And when I bought my car I was still catching the train to uni. Once we move I'll be doing 100km a day hence the desire for a new car.

Got 2 cars which does 30000km each, another 2 which does 20-25000km each, and one which does 12000km

Once they done 60000km (from new) much business use I sell it to myself and use it privately within family
