So Then- Who's My Competition?

More than happy to be corrected but I thought it was only Mon-Fri ( to around 7.00p.m.) and weekend mornings, with just the general call centre answering at other times.

The premium desk is 7am-9pm weekdays and 9am-9pm weekends (public holidays follow the same hours as normal days).

Was thinking about id, but instead booked a oneworld award in J as it also covered off flights inside Europe...
and I don't believe one can book EK shares under this.

This would be my preferred option too, but my partner needs to stop in DXB for business. Would love to have had it all locked away by now rather than this (potentially fruitless) waiting game!

So, my report:
50% success. Had a quick look at Qantas site just before 9pm Saturday (WST) and saw that some CA's had been uploaded. There began the frantic game of trying to book one J award PER-DXB-LHR...so far I have PER-DXB and LHR-DXB, but even at that initial stage was not able to book either of the other two legs.

I experienced the same jumping around on the flexible date calendar as others have in other related threads. By Sunday, EK awards weren't even showing up at all, although they are again now, but with no J availability, even searching other dates.

Platinum line were relatively unhelpful, aside from mentioning that EK hadn't released J award seats to QF on those sectors and didn't know if they would or not...am seriously thinking of canning the two sectors I have (and losing 7,000 points). Also with current J pricing on those same flights, my partner, who will be flying on a paid ticket will be shelling out over $11000!!! Well, no he won't, because that's ridiculous money, especially seeing as EK has companion fare pricing ATM for around $6000

The next few weeks / months will be very interesting to see what the fallout is of this JV...so far not hearing any word of positives, but it is early days...

Not much success here either - emailed P1 who passed the request onto the Premium Reservation line. Long story short - could only get J on the wrong dates DXB-LCA and could only get two F seats LCA-DXB. All up 216K points plus about $1000 in taxes and surcharges. I have the awards on hold but will let them lapse and pay for whY (four hour flight) and try closer to the date to see if J opens up.

Sorry you didn't have better luck simongr...I'll be checking for new J additions too in case this is just a lag in combining the two systems *crosses fingers*

Talking to the premium line yesterday there was a 3 hour queue on the phones as people jumped on awards at midnight on 1 April

I can still see JDI7 on expert flyer and F is wide open so I am hoping awards get freed up closer to the date.

simongr, it may be worth having another look now :p...i've spotted the availability I was after

Best of luck- I couldn't believe it when I saw the sectors I needed pop-up, so hopefully the staggered release is the reality and yours will come up soon.

now just need a refund of 10,000 FF points for difference between booking the flights separately as opposed to in one tranche!
