I was on QF539, BNE-SYD, as usual, yesterday afternoon.

As I wandered around near the gate with not much to do, I noticed that QF535, which was scheduled to leave an hour before us from the gate next to us, hadn't gone. I went over to have a look to find an A330-300 sitting there (the "Port Macquarie" if that means anything to anyone). It pushed back as we started boarding.

I haven't been on an A330, but have been keen to see what they're like. I kinda wished I'd asked for an earlier flight when I arrived at the airport - it was only that I was in my favourite 23A (on a 763) that I thought I'd stay put.

I think QF535 was supposed to be a 737 of some kind, so I don't know why the substitution.

I could investigate more, but let it suffice to say that the substitution probably indicates a late or U/S scheduled operating aircraft.
