Do we know if VA plan to upgrade the product aboard the XR aircraft before rebranding?

Recently flew the Fokker 50 and its dreadful. Cramped. Hot. Stuffy. The QF Dash-8 is far superior.

As someone who has to endure the F50s to ALH every couple months, I'd agree and hope so!

As a side note, I love the F100s! The legroom is really good, and I often pay more to fly XR over QF to GET or PHE

I was booked a F100 GET-PER and we got bumped to a F50.

Even the 100's need new interiors though they look exhausted.

Comparing a FK50 to a Dash 8 is a tad harsh unless is a 200 series as both are of similar vintage, as for updating them, you will find they will be retired and replaced by ATRs as the fleet grows, which are the cash cows of the Virgin fleet.

I wonder if we will see some ATR 42-600s ?

Can't we split the difference and at least call them the "cash pig" of the VA fleet?

Some religions find Pigs offensive while some find Cows to be holy ! There are only two types of aircraft that fit a pig nickname, F111s and A10 Warthogs!

Is it true that Skywest have been stringing out their creditors? I heard an unsubstantiated figure for unpaid landing fees in a country town away from Perth that was pretty big.

Virgin Aust Regional Airlines launching in PER today.

Are we going to see new routes in the South West open up? Perhaps a daily 737 PER - Albany etc to open up the tourist market.

Many of the QLD smaller cities, like Proserpine, Gladstone etc have at least a daily flight at a reasonable price. Being able to connect from a A330 East coast flight to a south west location would surely open up a lot more tourist opportunities.

If the WA government wasn't so far behind and didn't regulate the routes this would be likely but all of the country towns including the main ones in the SW and Geraldton/Exmouth all have the government controlloing how many flights a day, how many seats per day per airline and how many airlines are allowed to fly, look at how long it took Qantas to get on so Virgin really had to buy XR otherwise they would have never got in to these towns and then got their feeds internatioanlly or domestically so it's a big blow to Qantas as they are still trying to get into more routes.

One day we might see WA unregulated.
