We’ve got 5 nights in SIN before Christmas and travelling with family so we’re after some suggestions. Our makeup is two couples in their 40s, accompanying parents 70ish and two kids aged 7 and 9. If we’re in AU a flash pub or steak house would be the go, but not sure if such thing exists in SIN? Fine dining etc won’t really be suitable for this trip. Affordable quality is what we are after.

One of the party has a special birthday so willing to stretch the budget for one night. What can you suggest?

I've been to a couple of them - no complaints.

A food hall / hawker for one meal would be nice. Lets everyone get what they want or mix and match all over and share.

Jumbo is always an option if your into seafood
I would avoid western food and get into local stuff, nothing wrong with a good feed of chicken rice, a deceptively simple dish that is not so simple but oh so tasty.

Most hawker centres will fill you with tasty food for very little but if must try fine dining Singapore has several Michelin-starred hawker stalls, including the original Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle and Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle (Hawker Chan), which were among the first street food stalls globally to receive stars in 2016. Other stalls have received Bib Gourmand awards for their quality and value, such as Jian Bo Shui Kueh and Bahrakath Mutton Soup.

I know many of the QF cabin crew head to Chijmes (Directory) , might be an option for that special dinner

Personally as much as I like the Michelin and bib gourmet hawkers, I also now avoid them since the lines are generally insane.

Ive been to this place, might be suitable for your celebration dinner, I went for my anniversary. You enter via a cafe and go through a fridge door to access it, like its a secret restaurant, which might be fun for the kids.

Unfortunately its currently saying its temporarily closed for improvements, but if it reopens before you go I'd consider it.

Thank you - looks great - I've sent them a message.
