Is anyone familiar with the luggage storage available at Singapore?

I'm heading there today for three days, then have to do an overnight in Malaysia.

I'll have a single roller bag, but when I go to Malaysia I just want to take carry on as I'm on Jetstar and am too cheap to pay for luggage. :)

When I return from KL I have a 4 hour stop over before the flight home.

I've checked out the Changi web site but I can't work out where the baggage store is actually located and whether I can get to it before my flight to KL to drop off and then pickup when I return during my transit.

thanks in advance

terry

Hi Terry!

I've used storage landslide, I think it was in T2 and very well signposted from arrivals.

It was in an odd floor between arrivals and the next floor down and reasonably priced!
Hope this helps!

thanks. I there is a landside in T2 I assume there will be one in T1. I'll check it out.

From vague recollection, definitely arrivals, up or down a floor in T2, likely one in every other terminal in a similar area. Easy to use.

I've used the Baggage Services for this type of arrangement many times.

I'll post a link to their rates and locations.

One thing I consider is whether I want to use the air side or public side service. This can make your life easier if you think through where you will be arriving and need to be checking in bags for the next legs. In T1, T2 & T3 there are two, making a total of six options, three airside, three landside.

In all cases there are easy signs to follow but the airside storage is usually down a hall.

You need a copy of your passport and prepayment.

thanks for all the great answers.

I wasn't sure about the airside and whether i could get to it on both my outward and inward flights. Landside seems more sure that I will be able to get back to my bag for the slight inconvenience of having to pass through immigration.

thanks again

All three terminals are connected airside and you can navigate between them easily even if you arrive back in a different terminal.

Just note down which terminal it is. ..last time the through SIN I spent over an hour between terminals working out where I was!

I arrived into T3 at OMG o'clock & went straight to the airside transit hotel there. When I woke up & after breakfast, I cleared immigration in T3 & then went to lost luggage (SQ use SATS) who found my bags for me (no charge) & then I cleared Customs & headed to my hotel.

Just thought I'd add how it all came together to this thread seeing as though I started it.

Arrived at T1 at 7am. The landside bag drop is on level 3. Go up the escalators and around to the left, then turn right.

The whole process took about 3 minutes and it cost me SIN$9 to leave for 36 hours. The guys working there were very friendly. The $9 was much better than the $30 odd dollars each way J* wanted to charge me for taking a checked bag.

I wanted to clarify on this thread as I am going through Singapore en route to Myanmar and want to leave a bag airside. I'll arrive at T3, get some sleep in the Transit hotel then depart T2. 2 weeks later I return to T2 and want to collect my bag so I can spend a few days in Singapore and in turn leave a bike until I fly back to Sydney.

What is my best approach?

Thanks.

I'm a little unsure here the bike is coming from/going to Myanmar? but not Singapore?

How about this:

1) I assume your bike is checked through to Myanmar.
2) Upon arrival T3 Proceed to T2 and deposit bag at airside Baggage service
3) Use the Transit hotel in T2
4) Depart T2 for Myanmar

5) Arrive back at T2, collect airside bag and clear customs
6) Collect your luggage and bike, take all of that to the Landside bagage storage and leave what you don't need there.
7) Enjoy Singapore.

I think it might be worth reconsidering the use from airside to Landside in T2. That way, you only have to go to one counter when you are coming back from Myanmar. One less hassle. You have the time on the outbound journey, clear customs, store bag and even consider taking a taxi to town where you will have more accom options.

I may need to better understand where that bike comes from/goes to. Would going into town be worth it for you? Depends upon the length of time in the transit hotel.

Thanks Alby, to clarify the bike is going to Myanmar but I want to leave it at Singapore when coming back through. I only have about 7hrs in transit on the way out so I'd like to maximize sleep. I think your 7 step process is the answer ;)
Cheers

I think albatross710 explained that rather well

And I will just add that when I returned form KL, it took exactly 16 minutes and 12seconds from the time i left the gate, till I was sitting in the Premium check-in getting my boarding pass and checking my bags for the flight home. That was through immigration, collecting my bag from the bag drop and getting back to the checkin.

I used luggage storage landside in T2 a couple of years ago. A bag and golf clubs cost ~SGD27 for 3 full days. As the golf clubs are oversize they cost a little more than the bag. Not a bad deal.
