Singapore Airlines (SIA) will offer an all-business class seating on its non-stop flights to Los Angeles and New York starting in mid-May, the carrier said Tuesday.

...
Under the new configuration, SIA will replace the existing two-class, 181-seat arrangement on its five Airbus A340-500 long range planes with 100 business class seats for the direct flights between Singapore and the two US cities.

To me this is really really bad news. SQ premium economy on the non stop flights was amasing. It was great value for money (you just paid flex economy rates SGD 2400 vs 2200 for discounted) and a very easy flight to take. It was as good as business on a lot of lesser airlines. Pleasant crew, lots of space, lots of entertainment, lots of food. The indirect flights through TPE etc on the new 777 ER are nowhere near as good.
Unfortunately USD has taken a bellyflop compared to SGD so now SQ J is outside of my budget. Guess I have to endure TG J again. Nothing wrong with service or plane (maybe not enough entertainment), just the Cobra Swamp (Apparently the old name for locale where Suvurnabhumi airport is located, which explains a lot). On my trip to US in january they lost my luggage inbound (try enduring LAX in a t-shirt when it is 7 degrees outside and your warm clothes are still in BKK) and then outbound too!
