Hi folks, looking for some recommendations please re: Accor properties in SIN. Have a couple of nights there in early December and there's a possibility - albeit no guarantee - that I'll be ALL+ Platinum by the time we're staying in town.

Have been considering the Sofitel, Swissotel and Mondrian (as pricing is in the same ballpark at present) and I'm thinking to use some of my Accor points to knock the price down a bit (either to make it more affordable overall, or to splurge on a higher category room). Open to suggestions beyond these properties. Fairmont Gold rooms are actually showing RHR rates for my dates, but it's still quite pricey.

Thanks in advance!

I think the biggest consideration here is
1) Budget Range per night
2) What are you doing in Singapore? as different locations suit different things.

We tend to stay around Bugis a lot because of what we are usually doing happens to be nearby. But Orchard area would be more for high end shopping, Sentosa is resort area etc.

Hotels mentioned are roughly 500-700AUD for the stay (before adding any points into the mix). It's a holiday - no fixed agenda. Not looking at Sentosa area.... most likely exploring food and local shopping + sightseeing. Been ages since DejaBrew+1 was in SG and I've rarely had the chance to be there outside of work (where I typically get zero chance to be a tourist).

Friend and I stayed in the ibis budget Singapore Clarke Quay - super convenient location (think walking distance to Chinatown breakfast, or anything more pricey in the nearby malls).

Definitely on the cheaper side, (by SG standards), and we decided to get the room with no windows so we could maximise our budget on food and snacks to bring back. Definitely a hotel focussed on just having a clean place to rest and sleep in.

Cool spirits bar across the road too.

Oh, and it's close to one of my favourite Hainan chicken spots: Chin Chin Restaurant · 19 Purvis St, Singapore 188598

In that case, pretty much everything is in play for Singapore (just remember that the ALL App/Site doesn't have taxes included) except maybe Fairmont.

Personally for holiday trips involving wandering around Singapore, I'd recommend positioning around Bugis / Chinatown (which many of the mentioned hotels are located around).

Avoid Mercure ICON unless you want an ibis Branded as Mercure. Mercure Bugis is a surprisingly solid (and slightly quirky) value pick. It has a very basic Lounge as well and a Loft for their rooms.

Pullman Orchard is a little bit off that strip and slightly smaller rooms from memory but if you want do be doing big brand department shopping, Orchard street could be an option. I'd definitely visit Orchard area as there's usually some sort of decoration going on for Christmas (or I could just let you know as I'm in Singapore from Nov 27-Dec 1).

Mondrian / Sofitel is also well located near Chinatown / Maxwell area from memory so easy to go out and buy stuff.

Alternatively you could always book a night at MBS as well. Personally I dont think it's THAT great anymore in 2025 and it probably needs a renovation soon but it is still a bucket list item for many people.

You mentioned splurging more for premium rooms. Sofitel City centre essentially only has two room types. Standard and a suite. Everything between base and suite is the same layout. You might have a different view or higher floor (hardly worth it as none of the views are amazing). The better base rooms might also have slightly different amenities but that's not something I care about. Just something to be aware of.

IF you're platinum, then staying at a hotel with a lounge has added value.

Swissotel can have some amazing views, especially from the executive lounge on one of the top few floors.

Wait till the new towers are completed. I'd expect those rooms to be absolute next level.

Swissotel would be my recommendation (long been a favorite of mine when it was a Westin and popped the question in the crest suites lounge to the ex wife)
Great lounge - was there when it opened after a refurb a few years back

Thanks all for the suggestions and insights - some great info and tips!

I think the one thing I'm crystal clear on so far is the need to avoid the Mercure ICON like the plague 🤣

Will spend some time on the Accor site tomorrow and have a play to try and shortlist (or ultimately book).

PS> Am I correct in thinking that Platinums get breakast included - regardless of whether there is a EL at the property?

Correct. At properties with an EL you can usually choose between breakfast there or at one of the restaurants. I'd second the Swissotel, the EL has incredible views of the quay. I've posted some pics here

We have upcoming Singapore accom to book for mid 2026 so appreciate input from posters here.
Wasn't going to start a new thread so great info, thanks.

Putting the executive lounge aside, I would recommend Fairmont as the best option in terms of pricing and overall experience.

Fairmont and Swissôtel are located right next to each other, both with direct access to a large shopping mall that includes a food court. Mondrian offers stylish rooms, though they are more compact, so that’s just something to keep in mind.

In general, Accor’s executive lounges are fairly modest, with limited food and beverage offerings and a basic alcohol selection. Personally, I wouldn’t rely on the lounge for the overall experience - Singapore has such an incredible dining and bar scene that it’s far more worthwhile to explore the city rather than sit in the lounge with average wine at set hours.

I'd agree about lounges and getting suckered in and missing out on other dining/drinking experiences. However, especially in SG with drink prices, you can save a lot in the lounge.

Sofitel City Centre has a pretty good alcohol selection, including actual champagne and they'll happily mix you up a coughtail that's not on the menu. The actual lounge ambiance is a bit average though.

My last stay at Swissôtel The Stamford earlier in the year was maybe the 10th time I've stayed there, from about 70 visits to the Lion city. It's easily my favourite hotel up there these days, with direct access to the Raffles City mall, its huge food court and supermarkets below, plus City Hall MRT in the basement below, where 2 lines operate from, plus you can easily walk to a third MRT line at Esplanade station via the food court & B2 (you'd use this line to get to Marina Bay Sands, if not walking). You can also walk underground from Raffles City to as far as Suntec City and Marina Square / Theatres by the Bay, and walk overland to a number of nearby dining, bars, attractions and other places.

I've stayed in their Crest Suites on the last few visits, and they are hard to beat for a relatively low price (all things Singapore considered when I say 'low' :D), but any Harbour facing room would likely do the trick, and if you haven't made it to Platinum yet (or by the time you would stay), I would consider stretching the budget to a room type that includes access to the L65 Lounge, as it's a great place to start your day for breakfast, and is quiet with amazing views around the city for a refresher in between activities at other times of the day. Lounge access means the inclusion of the main buffet breakfast in Clove / Asian Market Cafe as an alternative, if you wanted to try that as well. I don't usually do coughtail hours in the hotel lounge, but it seems to be ok compared with others in SG (I did note no real champagne available, though). Having Platinum or higher status, or staying in an executive room type will also mean you get to avoid the melee that is the ground floor check-in area, with the option of being whisked away to the lounge to complete your formalities up there on arrival (after a quick scan of passports downstairs, IIRC) and also when checking out. The L65 staff are great, and helped with anything we needed throughout our stays.

Fairmont Singapore can be good; I've stayed here a number of times as well, but less opportunity to get those great views that the Swissôtel has, as it's a much shorter tower, plus set back further from the street and behind the Swissôtel on certain angles. Only Diamond status will get you access to the Fairmont Gold lounge, unless you book a Gold room, and I'd suggest these are not really worth the extra spend, especially when compared to what you can get next door at the Swissôtel for a similar rate to a Fairmont Gold room. All the outlets and facilities are shared, including the [small] pool areas, and you can charge back to either property from any outlet.

Sofitel City Centre is nice, and newer than the two above, but I found it to be a little out of the way for what I generally look for. It does have easy access to Tanjong Pagar MRT, which is ok, but I prefer the two lines at City Hall. Still recommended, but I'd only consider it myself with a great deal on a suite. No amazing views to speak of, just local area city views (which is fine). Quality of F&B at the smaller Club Millésime lounge was probably better overall than L65, but I prefer the Swissôtel lounge for it's scale, and that wow factor view.

I've not looked at the Mondrian as yet, but like the Sofitel (which is nearby), it's not really where I prefer to set up camp, and so it would need to be a great deal or something event specific for me to move that way.

Truth be told, all the places I've stayed at in Singapore (including countless other brands and properties) are probably a 4 out of 5 or better in terms of an overall rating, and unless you are really scraping the barrel on budget, then it would be hard to find somewhere that wasn't of a higher standard to what we are accustomed to here in Australia at the same star levels, and so you can at least feel relaxed that whatever you choose should end up being great!

Cheers,
Matt.

A few more points to do. The pool at the Sofitel is much more serene than the Swissotel/Fairmount. The Sofitel if platinum or above a certain room level gives you access to the Virgin Active gym, which is an excellent gym.

@dairyfloss not sure when you were last at the Sofitel, but the lounge has moved from level 6 by the pool to a small space on level 5. A big downgrade in pace unfortunately. They were using the old lounge space for a late night bar/club but when I last visited earlier this year, that venue seems to have closed. Would be great if the relocated the EL back there.

That's a shame - it was nice near the pool area. Yeah, it's quite some time since I was there; pre-covid for sure. We had it on our corporate hotels list at the time.

p.s. just on additions, now that you mention the Virgin Active gym... the L65 lounge also has a small, dedicated gym for those who can access the 65th floor, and it has those same views like the lounge, which is pretty special. Not a big space, but has the basics, and well stocked with waters, towels, bathroom and shower, etc.

In the past in Singapore I've always stayed at Marina Bay Sands, but on our last trip we decided to do something different so went with Raffles and would highly recommend that as an Accor property if you want to indulge.

The service is exceptional, as a diamond member we we were upgraded to adjoining suites (we had booked 2 rooms for the family) and offered 6pm (!) checkout on one of the rooms as our outbound flight wasn't until 11pm.

Both the outdoor cafe and in-room dining were great, and of course the signature Singapore Sling coughtails didn't disappoint. We didn't get to the Long Bar as the queue was crazy but I believe the concierge can help with reservations for in-house guests if you plan ahead.

The only thing MBS has as an advantage is the novelty of the rooftop pool and restaurants, but I think we'll be making Raffles our new default for future Singapore trips.
