Hi folks, looking for some recommendations please re: Accor properties in SIN. Have a couple of nights there in early December and there's a possibility - albeit no guarantee - that I'll be ALL+ Platinum by the time we're staying in town.

Have been considering the Sofitel, Swissotel and Mondrian (as pricing is in the same ballpark at present) and I'm thinking to use some of my Accor points to knock the price down a bit (either to make it more affordable overall, or to splurge on a higher category room). Open to suggestions beyond these properties. Fairmont Gold rooms are actually showing RHR rates for my dates, but it's still quite pricey.

Thanks in advance!

I think the biggest consideration here is
1) Budget Range per night
2) What are you doing in Singapore? as different locations suit different things.

We tend to stay around Bugis a lot because of what we are usually doing happens to be nearby. But Orchard area would be more for high end shopping, Sentosa is resort area etc.

Hotels mentioned are roughly 500-700AUD for the stay (before adding any points into the mix). It's a holiday - no fixed agenda. Not looking at Sentosa area.... most likely exploring food and local shopping + sightseeing. Been ages since DejaBrew+1 was in SG and I've rarely had the chance to be there outside of work (where I typically get zero chance to be a tourist).

Friend and I stayed in the ibis budget Singapore Clarke Quay - super convenient location (think walking distance to Chinatown breakfast, or anything more pricey in the nearby malls).

Definitely on the cheaper side, (by SG standards), and we decided to get the room with no windows so we could maximise our budget on food and snacks to bring back. Definitely a hotel focussed on just having a clean place to rest and sleep in.

Cool spirits bar across the road too.

Oh, and it's close to one of my favourite Hainan chicken spots: Chin Chin Restaurant · 19 Purvis St, Singapore 188598

In that case, pretty much everything is in play for Singapore (just remember that the ALL App/Site doesn't have taxes included) except maybe Fairmont.

Personally for holiday trips involving wandering around Singapore, I'd recommend positioning around Bugis / Chinatown (which many of the mentioned hotels are located around).

Avoid Mercure ICON unless you want an ibis Branded as Mercure. Mercure Bugis is a surprisingly solid (and slightly quirky) value pick. It has a very basic Lounge as well and a Loft for their rooms.

Pullman Orchard is a little bit off that strip and slightly smaller rooms from memory but if you want do be doing big brand department shopping, Orchard street could be an option. I'd definitely visit Orchard area as there's usually some sort of decoration going on for Christmas (or I could just let you know as I'm in Singapore from Nov 27-Dec 1).

Mondrian / Sofitel is also well located near Chinatown / Maxwell area from memory so easy to go out and buy stuff.

Alternatively you could always book a night at MBS as well. Personally I dont think it's THAT great anymore in 2025 and it probably needs a renovation soon but it is still a bucket list item for many people.

You mentioned splurging more for premium rooms. Sofitel City centre essentially only has two room types. Standard and a suite. Everything between base and suite is the same layout. You might have a different view or higher floor (hardly worth it as none of the views are amazing). The better base rooms might also have slightly different amenities but that's not something I care about. Just something to be aware of.

IF you're platinum, then staying at a hotel with a lounge has added value.

Swissotel can have some amazing views, especially from the executive lounge on one of the top few floors.

Wait till the new towers are completed. I'd expect those rooms to be absolute next level.

Thanks all for the suggestions and insights - some great info and tips!

I think the one thing I'm crystal clear on so far is the need to avoid the Mercure ICON like the plague 🤣

Will spend some time on the Accor site tomorrow and have a play to try and shortlist (or ultimately book).

PS> Am I correct in thinking that Platinums get breakast included - regardless of whether there is a EL at the property?

Correct. At properties with an EL you can usually choose between breakfast there or at one of the restaurants. I'd second the Swissotel, the EL has incredible views of the quay. I've posted some pics here
