SIN Lounge Crawl 11 June 2023

Added to Calendar: 11-06-23

Its extraordinary that QR (I assume a 'J' type lounge) wins (by a margin) over the QF and BA F lounges there. Unfortunately I've never visited it, as am mostly flying StarAlliance through SIN these days, so I may have to wangle something.

Finally, how good is Changi Airport?! This photo is not even of a lounge - it’s just a public garden in the middle of terminal 2...

Its pretty desolate around that particular installation but yes, Changi deserves its best airport awards.

That area has only recently been re-opened. There used to be a similar garden in a deeper wood coloured theme in around the same place. (That used to be the place to meet up for the free Singapore tours from late last century.

Basically they used the COVID breaks to rebuild the airside concourse at T2. Still hoardings everywhere.

So we have five hours to kill at Changi in January. Flying in with Emirates, flying out with Qantas both in J and both WP. So we don't usually lounge crawl as we don't normally have time. So it's QR lounge then QF? We arrive 2.40pm and out at 7.40pm. Prior to the EK flight well of course it's the F lounge in Dubai. At least there's no discussion or crawl needed there.

I'd go QF F (before it gets busy) for a quick feed. IMO the food is slightly better there - but I have a preference for Asian food over Western, which QR probably does better.

Then head to the QR lounge, and if you want some tarmac views after that (which neither QR or QF offer) you can head next door to the EK lounge after that!

I'm still gobsmacked by how much quicker it was to take the T1-T3 and T3-T2 skytrains instead of following the SIN airport signage, which encourages walking miles for the direct T1-T2 skytrain.
So you can shop along the way! 😁

Me too... so I was quite surprised when dining at the MH F lounge in KUL yesterday that there were no Malaysian or Asian food options on the a la carte menu! I had to ask to get chicken rice off-menu...

Have just arrived and the only Asian option today is the oxtail soup..

I'm sure it's delicious, but a hot soup after a the non air-conditioned & rammed full bus transfer to the satellite terminal is not what I'm looking for.

Yep - that was the menu I got yesterday, except yesterday there was no tiramisu.

I thought they must have given me the "foreigner" menu by default, and that there would be a separate menu (possibly in Malaysian language) with Malaysian food options. But nope - that was it.

There are plenty of Malaysian options in the J lounge next door though!

Thanks for all the posts and live updates. I really enjoyed following you all!
I am really impressed by some of your itineraries to maximise lounge time.
Unfortunately circumstances didn't allow me to attend this year but I'm looking forward to joining the next lounge crawl.

The J lounge is better equipped for regional dining.

The F lounge can't do sparkling water.

I looked very hard for such on Monday in both the satellite "Suites" lounge and the business lounge.

Also asked in both, to be denied.

Maybe they had none at the time.
Sometimes you’ll need to ask for soda water but they could be out of stock like you said.
I was asked to fill out a feedback form for their F lounge and have asked them to consider including more Malaysian dishes. Let’s see if they do 😄
