Is the QF/BA F lounge the best option for a WP in SIN?

Last time I was there, there was no hot food what so ever. Perhaps too early (7-9am)??

I remember someone here said they have waitresses that come around with hot food (beef rendang and rice)!!

Does CX or AA have a better lounge in SIN?

I'm tempted to resort to the QF/BA J lounge with its buffet (pizzas, sandwiches, cakes)

Yes

No AA lounge since AA does not service SIN. CX lounge is designed for their own regional flights, while QF/BA lounge is aimed at long-haul flights.

They are close enough to be able to easily wander between the two and make you own choice on the day.

Having used both J lounges i prefer the QF/BA lounge (F lounge once and i liked but only got guested in, F is always better)

Plenty to look at and do in SIN so i would try both J lounges just to compare if your boared... fill some time.

I have always found a reasonable selection of both hot and cold food available in the FLounge at SIN, both at the buffet area and from waiters wandering around.

That was me - approx. 7pm before travelling on QF10 back to MEL.

CX use the SkyView lounge; you may get some hot Dim Sum there.

Almost always better in the F lounge - if there's hot food in the J lounge there is normally 'better' hot food in the F lounge.

I was there a few weeks ago and was more than happy with the set up (very comfortable). Plenty of hot and cold food and waiters that came around repeatedly with hot meals (unfortunately I was so crook I had to go downstairs and get a double shot ot pethadine just so I could fly back to Perth that night and therefore eating was the last thing on my mind:()

Agree about the waiters. Have been there before the BA flight to SYD and the waiters were running around with lovely dishes of food. Things like Tandoori Chicken, fried rice, samosas, pizza etc. There was also a buffet set up with some items on it as well.

Was also there before the old AY flight to BKK and similar treatment was given.

Those were ~12 months ago and ~16 months ago. Unfortunately havn't been back to SIN this year.

I will go against the flow and recommend the Skyview lounge for certain times of the day. It just depends on what you want from the lounge. If you want peace and quiet you will not get in the QF/BA lounges during busy periods.

The QF/BA F lounge does not open until 3:00pm. I was there from about 4:00pm-7:00pm in July and the lounge got too crowded and was very loud. I was not feeling well and this lady sitting down near the food area was on a hands free phone call for around an hour that the whole lounge could follow. I cannot understand why some people need to feel so important. Only around 4 PCs if you want to use internet. Food is OK.

The QF/BA J lounge is OK but do not expect any food around lunchtime. You will probably find that you are also the only one in there. In the afternoon and evenings it gets very crowded and loud and the majority of the 10 PCs are being used by uncontrollable children playing loud internet games. Food is OK.

The Skyview lounge I have found quiet at most times regardless of how many people are inside. People seem to behave better in this lounge. It has a nice shower area and nice view outside, C & D gates?, as opposed to the view of checkin and immigration counters from the QF/BA J lounge and has a nice private area with PCs for internet access. Food is OK.

In saying all of this I have a TG flight SIN-BKK around lunchtime in December and just want to clarify that I should have access to the QF/BA J lounge as the F lounge will not be open.

I was in the F lounge at 8:30am yesterday (whilst waiting for QF32 SIN/SYD), so it is open at other times.

There is a mobile-phone-free area right down the opposite end of the lounge from the food. Obviously that doesn't stop someone else's sound waves penetrating throughout the entire lounge, but it does mean that no one in that area should be using their phones, and being a reasonable distance from the food area, hopefully this loud woman's voice would not have carried.

Hmmm. Have they taken down the sign that lounge opens at 3:00pm?

No, she was she sitting in a lounge chair no more than a couple of metres from the food area and quite close to the business area. I could hear her talking loud all the time. Why are people on mobile phones always doing the talking? Does anyone ever just listen?

I would go QF/BA F for the showers alone. The QF/BA J showers were good, but the F showers were heaven.:)

A don't get into food in the lounges too much, but what I saw looked alright. Drinks were good too.

I've said it once.. and i'll say it again.. the SIN F lounge is a huge disappointment

There is better food and drinks in the QF/BA Biz lounge.

The F lounge offered:
- Fruit
- Wine/Softdrinks/beer/etc
- And the usual spirits

When I wondered over to the QF Biz lounge, in addition to the F lounge food:
- Muffins
- 2 types of cake
- Sandwiches
- coughtail bar with barman

Anyway.. we both ended up leaving the QF lounge. There was no hot food. The staff said the dinner service would start at 5-6pm in the F lounge.

We wondered over to the CX lounge. I showed them my QF boarding pass with my WP card and they said, 'you don't want to use the Qantas lounge?'

'Not really, there is no hot food there'

She laughed and swiped our boarding cards.

The CX lounge had fried rice, assorted dim sum, sandwiches, sushi, instant noodles... a half decent food offering. The CX lounge environment is much nicer with the windows overlooking the tarmac.

Anyway.. we went back to the QF/BA F lounge at 17:30 only to find it packed.. must have been the connecting flights from LHR and Frankfurt. Guess what... still no hot food... But there was a vege soup (probably from a can).

At 6pm... out came the pizzas and some kind of ricotta roll. (Finally...)

Then at 6.40pm, just as we were packing up to move to the biz lounge, the waitress popped out of the kitchen with 4 plates of some sort of rice dish...
that made us stay :D.

This must be the beef randang and rice i have heard about on here!

Finally after another 15 mins of waiting, another waitress came out with 4 more plates and we managed to grab her attention.

Turns out it was chicken korma with rice, salad and a papadam.

It is a shame that the service was so slow.

Aha, now I know where I'll try next time I'm at SIN.

Saying that, I thought the BA/QF F Lounge at SIN was quite good - waiters kept walking around offering nice bits of food.

People do listen. Just not the important business people that frequent lounges at airports.

Hmm - I personally find the QF/BA J/F lounges more aesthetically pleasing than the CX lounge. Nicer furnishing and decor. I don't really care about the views outside the lounge so that removes one of the perceived advantages of the CX lounge from my POV. Helps that they also have a better choice of booze in the QF/BA lounges.

Often when I am on the phone at airports it is because my boss has called me with a specific question and thus I do most of the talking - it's not just about informing people about how important I am :)

JohnK, have you seen those people walking around with a phone to their ear saying nothing. They look like tryhards.

Unlike simogr, my boss rings, and he can talk under wet cement with marbles in his mouth. Shutting him up long enough to squeeze a word in is effort enough.

This happens if you are their at the right time. I especially liked the ones that came around filling my wine glass up all the time :)
