Silver to Gold on VA - How long to process?

How much are VA at upgrading your status from Silver to Gold?

I’ve got an Auckland to Sydney in the morning, which will take me over the required status points. Then an SYD-BNE later on that evening, will by Gold Status be in effect later on that day? Or is there anything you can do to get VA to update it on the day?

First the flight has to post, and from there they usually do the upgrades overnight to be reflected next.day in your account

mine took 3 days but i am sure you can argue the point if its important to do it quickly.
My biggest beef was lost sc as tier change occurred mid flight and I wasted 30 SCs

It can take quite a long time depending on how quickly they update your account with the points. Then you have to wait a day before your status is reviewed. I should have gone up a tier from gold to platinum during a 10 day holiday awhile back, but virgin took more than 10 days to post my points and so I flew back with gold status rather than the higher points earning platinum. A similar thing happened when I went from silver to gold. Both times I emailed Velocity and they reapplied the points with the higher bonus. It took a bit of negotiation the second time, but I cut and pasted the previous email from the silver - gold transition and eventually they agreed to adjust it.

Your AKL-SYD flight will not have posted by the evening. You will still be silver on the SYD-BNE flight

Usually. When flying mixed codeshare VA/SQ, the VA points are often posted 3 days after the almost immediate SQ points. However, the points from my flight earlier this week were posted within an hour of landing. Maybe there are new systems?

Yeah, don’t know if they have a new system or not but my last lot posted about an hour after landing also. That was on Monday.
They then upgrade your status overnight so I’d say no chance of the OP being Gold for the SYD-BNE trip

We flew Melb to Christchurch on Wed, landing just after midnight Thursday, and our SCs and points hit Thur when I looked about 9am but our SYD to Melbourne flown the same day didn't hit until Fri pm

Last month I hit platinum on a work trip MEL to SYD. I phoned Velocity about 90 minutes after landing and even though it hadn't posted, the agent was able to apply the SCs to nudge me over to Platinum.

While on the phone to him, I refreshed the Velocity site and it confirmed the added SCs and change in status.

So I guess it could be worth calling up after the first flight to see what they can do.

Maybe they've changed that part of the process. Certainly in the past the status updates had to wait till the overnight checks.

Sorry, my comment was unclear. I technically hit enough credits for the new level after flight 1, took flight 2, both SCS credited the following day, and was upgraded the day after that (according to the activity statement).

So I wonder if asking nicely will help me towards retaining.

My silver to gold last month took 3 days. I rang them after it upgraded to fix up status from flights I'd taken between qualifying and actually being upgraded.

And how did that happen? I’ve been platinum for 6+ years and status has zero to do with status credits earnings, only points... unless you missed a booking window opportunity or booked a lesser value flight, I call bulls**t

I needed 110 SC to attain platinum, had a PE flight from SYD to LAX which earned 120 SC however still had my partner pooling to me so earned 240 SC on that flight and thus 130 SC went into the abyss.
