Hi there,

Family member is Priority Plat Status(not for long as work dropped reward points access)
Currently paying day rate\full price for rooms in Canada.
Flashes Plat card and all they are getting is upgraded room...anything else they should be getting?
In Holiday Inn there, they are happy to get Free breakfast and WIFI....I thought it was standard?
It was in America!

The problem with Priority Club Platinum status is the lack of guaranteed rewards. One is never quite sure what to expect from one hotel to the next.

An upgrade, and status bonus points is about it.

Things like wifi and breakfast are hotel specific things and are certainly not guaranteed under the program.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I find Priority Club Platinum thoroughly underwhelming.

Depends what you are after. One can often get reward nights at places that are otherwise quite expensive, and the points are easy to come by.

If it is recognition you want, then it may not be the program for you.

Not sure if I agree, just got upgraded to the Presidential Suite at Crowne Plaza Canberra ;)

Platinum is so easy to achieve, but if you are doing 100+ nights and some of these are consistently at the same hotel, the individual hotel will recognise this and reward you accordingly.

Maybe I should have said, if you want free benefits like breakfast then it is not the program for you.

...
Some here know a platinum couple who were upgraded to the very same two level (3 and 4) room over last weekend on a 4 night C&P stay for OzFest.

It's a massive room! I was here last week and got a suite, and I thought that was big, but this tops that by a lot.

...and they generously hosted an after dinner party for 40+ FTers...altho. we did get a couple of noise warnings from Mx:shock:

The only clear gazetted benefits of PC Platinum are:
  • Room upgrade (subject to availability, of course)
  • 50% more points
  • Guaranteed room if booked 72 hours in advance (again, subject to availability, of course)
  • Free newspaper on weekdays
  • Extended check-out on request and subject to availability
  • Priority Check-in

Everything else - breakfast, internet, welcome gifts, free drinks at the bar, letters from the manager, etc. - is entirely at the discretion of the property and can't be argued for on the basis of member benefits.

The beauty of PC (any level) is the earn/burn rates, not the status benefits.

If they stay at ICs a lot, then if they want status benefits, purchase Ambassador for US$200 join + 1st year then US$100 renew annual. You get a BOGO voucher with that too.

Well, I'm a touch disappointed then ...

After a fantastic two night stay at IC Sydney, I had to head west for a night.

We stayed at CP Norwest.

I pre-booked a month previous, so they should note my PC plat. status?

On check-in, I was issued with two room key cards - in the style of 1 x gold PC + 1 x 'garden-variety' blue ...

When I asked if I needed these - given I have one of these ( waving IC RA card ) ... the staffer informed me, yes they knew who I was ...

Result: Booked a standard twin bed room - got a standard twin bed room ! No comp. breakfast. No comp. newspaper ( but they were available at desk ) ... and certainly no comp. drinks at the bar, whilst we waited 30 minutes for restaurant to accept seating.

Now to top that off ...

Asked for credit card on check in for "security deposit". Settled account with another card on check-out. Get home, check bank details online ... FULL TARIFF deducted from first card - even though I gave them a second card, and stated full account to be paid from second card !! Phone call - 'will take up to a week to credit back'.

Should have stayed where I was ... there's nowhere in Sydney like the IC ( Club and above ) !!
