Short turnarounds: Have you flown back from your destination with the same crew?

Me and my son did this on VA
BNE~LAS via LAX in Y+. Left Sunday evening, and then did the return in J on Tuesday arriving back into BNE Thursday morning. Same VA crew there and back, looked after by the same ones lol.

Happens quite regularly on QLINK.

I've flown to SYD-BXG in the evening for positioning and returned the next morning. Obviously going to be the same crew since they overnight.

Had another instance where I had the same crew also on SYD-BXG but a week apart. Two cabin crew, one brand new - was only her second or third sector after training, and another one who was shadowing. She was very fresh and understandably nervous - stumbled through the briefing but got lots of support from the pax with an applause and "well done's" - all in all was a great flight and all the pax were super nice and supporting. The next week had the exact same pair on SYD-BXG again, this time a lot more confident and settled in.

As part of my job role, I join a regional charter every Friday morning (one of the local Myanmar domestic carriers ATR72-600s) to a northern coastal town with normal airline crew, catering, and I even get frequent flyer miles (much to my delight)

I land at this airport, get off, go through an arrival Security check (heavy military, police, immigration), drop off whatever parcels to my colleagues, walk around to the departures, do the same checks again (heavy military, police, immigration) - get back on the same aircraft. Doors close, engine start up and airborne all within the space of several minutes.

I am on the ground less than 15-20 minutes (my record is 12 minutes)

Crew sense of humour always spot on as I run up the rear steps for the return leg - "Welcome back Mr Archipelago and thanks for flying with us again"

Downside is I have to wake up at 03.30 every Friday at the airport hotel to get the 4am shuttle and check in at 04.30

Well if I had it would be something like
Darwin - Dili. Australia’s shortest international flight at 1 hour 13 mins

Not quite, but sort of. I was flying somewhere in South America ( can't remember where) and didn't realise the plane was making a stop before my destination.
As soon as I walked into the shed they used as a terminal I realised it wasn't where I was supposed to be. Luckily the ground staff, who all thought it was hilarious, happily allowed me to reboard the plane.
Not only did the crew recognise me, I'm pretty sure many of the other passengers did too. ☺️

One of my favourite travel stories involves having the same crew on a short turnaround.

I went through a stage where one of my key staff members was based in Adelaide and I was regularly flying CBR-ADL-CBR day trips so we could have face-to-face meetings at the Adelaide QC.

At the time there was a way you could use the Qantas website to select any seat in your cabin, even if it was blocked, and as I really liked 1C on the 737 I'd select that for each of my flights. Wasn't normally an issue as the J cabin was typically only half full on those flights so I didn't ever appear to have displaced anyone from that seat.

The flight down that day had a very friendly crew and I had a good chat with the staff operating the J cabin, to the point where I memorised their names and they memorised mine.

I was only on the ground for an hour or so, and ended up on the same plane with the same crew for the trip back to Canberra.

As luck would have it, a Senator was flying to Canberra to give a speech at some press club function, along with his chief of staff who had all the speaking notes so the Senator could rehearse them on the flight. At the time I vaguely recognised the Senator but had no idea he wasn't travelling solo or why he'd be wanting to sit next to his travel partner.

As a CL he obviously had been assigned 1A and his staffer 1C... or at least until my website selection inadvertently bumped the staffer back to row 3.

You could tell the Senator was upset when he saw me in 1C, presumably figuring I'd poached the seat, and got even more upset when he realised I wasn't actually in the wrong spot and he couldn't use the flight to rehearse his speech as he'd clearly planned.

The fun part was when the CSM came around pre-flight to offer drinks (remember when Qantas did that...?). He stood in the aisle, manifest in hand, turned to my 1A seat mate and very politely said "Welcome on board Mr... <checks manifest>... Senator so-and-so". He then looked at me, smiled and said "Good to see you again James" before moving on his way.

I ended up switching seats with the staffer the third time he was beckoned over to answer some question about the speaking notes, but the move was more than worth the look on the Senator's face as he tried to figure out who the hell I was to have bumped his staffer's seat selection when he and his CL status made him the most important person on the aircraft.

Did LHR - BRU - LHR on BA about 15 years ago on a Saturday morning to sign a document that had got missed out a few days before. Same crew / seat both ways.

Couple of times I can think of.
Once on HKG-KHI-HKG which was a back of clock flight linking two DONEs, back in the day when Pakistan was very cheap for these.
And another on a business trip to BKK that I think was 1D 2N where we had the same crew.

JASA back in 2014 Mel-Syd-Asp-Syd-Mel same crew, even the pilots and same seat . They let me keep everything on board while I stretched my legs around the airport in Alice.

From memory I have also followed/chased the same aircraft and crew (with the same seat selected) from Townsville - Brisbane - Sydney and/or the reverse a couple of times.

Well when I’m truly in Seat 0B, I always fly with the same crew on every leg… and we can only take 2 extra pax, so it’s not a popular RPT airline.

But I do get quite a lot of perks with this airline - I must be a Founder WP1+ or equivalent. I get to choose the routes, the stop overs and the the days and times of flights, but the luggage allowance is poor and the inflight catering not worth a mention. Never have my issues with Y pax trying to use the J toilets - it’s a case of cross you legs and choose an airport with a loo for the unscheduled landing that is about to occur! IFE is limited to looking at OzRunways. And I’m not sure that the costs stack up either. But for fun and freedom, it’s up there.

I've done ORD-SJU-ORD quite a few times (about 20 years ago), on the same aircreft and with the same flight attendants. About 90 minutes in San Juan, PR.

This was when I was within sight of lifetime Platinum with UA (which I now have) and I got to know some of the crew quite well, as they were fairly regular on this route. In fact one of the female FA's delighted in telling me that I reminded her of her ex-husband (wasn't sure exactly what that meant)....2004_0331Mar040013.JPG

Yes, I did MEL-SIN-MEL with an overnight stop in SIN. The look on the FA's face when she recognised me was priceless.

Had a good chat about what we'd each done during the 24 hours in SIN, and she then got me an express pass for entry back in to AU (this was when they were actually worth it)

Yep, last week on VA, but the flights were 4 days apart. I’m terrible at recognising people but the cabin manager in question was so lovely and personable that I recognised her immediately. We had a good chat.

If you fly between SYD-BNE many times, then you will be able to recognise the crew very well.

I can't believe that I met a lovely flight attendant 5 times! Too many coincidence!! No idea how the crew scheduler works. She worked both 767 and 737. I was surprised that she has two ranks - supervisor for the 767 and also flight attendant for the 737.

I have not met same flight attendant often - except her.
