We liked Langkawi a few years ago...great restaurants

1997 was out last trip to Langkawi - looking forward to the FS section.

There are a number of lovely resorts to choose from, but we do like the four seasons brand, so went that way. Langkawi must have been so beautiful 20 years ago!

20 years ago the FS was an undeveloped jungle ... we stayed at the Datai and loved it. Hard to beat the FS though...

Datai still seems very good - it was a toss up between them and four seasons, but FS seemed to have a slightly smaller no of rooms 90 odd vs 120 and I have a weakness for the brand. :)

I am an FS fan so definitely looking forward to reading your review.

That's right - you missed out last time! Hope they live up to expectations then
first hitch - no sliders :(. However we went upstairs to the restaurant and I had a very nice Seafood Chowder while Mr FM enjoyed a pie.

Tomorrow the excitement starts - The first time we visited an airport lounge was in Sydney in 1989 and it was Qantas and since then we have always been to a Qantas Lounge in Sydney.

We did flirt with Etihad in 2009, but they were using the Qantas lounge then, so no change.

however tomorrow it is all new and exciting - I have no idea where to checkin or where the lounge is or what to expect!

So far very good. Check in pretty similar to Qantas, with the bonus of no queues. A very long walk down to the lounge!

However we love the lounge. Ok not as pretty as Qantas and no spa, but I have pretty much given up on the spa anyway. The token brief treatments don't do much for me and I prefer a resort spa anyway. Prettiness - well Qantas is just a beautiful space. However the service in the SQ lounge is excellent. Hot towels brought immediately, sparkling water and Veuve to drink. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. We were asked if we wanted to eat in the dining room, or in the armchairs and elected to move to the dining room. Eggs were absolutely perfectly cooked, topped this off with an excellent little cake from the buffet and are now back in the armchairs, constantly being offered extra service.

This is us what the Qantas F lounge was like in 2007 when it opened, but it lost the plot years ago......

Menu hasn't come out, but it has breakfast items, plus things like satay, pulled pork sliders (almost had this) etc. Nice to have a choice at 10am but in the end went with breakfast.

Some pictures of buffet.
