Shopping in Singapore, Leisurely in Langkawi and our first SQ experience

Off on Monday and an essential part of packing is to start the trip report. After a busy and adventurous year last year (edge of Vic Falls and Balloon rides in Cappadocia) this year has been the boring year of R&R. After time in Port Douglas and Fiji earlier in the year we are carrying on the Beach theme, with a week in Langkawi in Malaysia.

It is going to be really, really wet, so not sure if we will get much in the way of pictures in Langkawi of the eagles and monkeys, but I am sure Mr FM will try.

18/10-20/10 Raffles

Not too many plans, apart from shopping and have booked at Joel Robuchon's 3 star restaurant.

21/10 SIN-Langkawi Silk Air J

21/10 to 27/10 Four Seasons Langkawi

Taking plenty of books - paper, e and audio.


28/10 Langkawi-SIN Silk Air J

28/10 to 29/10 Raffles

30/10 SIN-SYD SQ suites

31/10 SYD-CBR - QF Y

apart from the final leg, I have booked it so there are no connections, which is our new strategy.

So fairly boring, but quite exciting for us as we have never flown Singapore Air and are looking forward to the experience.

Will be popping into Langkawi on a cruise ship in early Jan. Interested to hear about it. Plus Singapore but staying near Boat Quay in Dec and Intercontinental in Jan. And then somewhere in April eh l_t_l - but I think one night at Marina Bay?

January should be nicer - getting to a less rainy time of year. Apparently the sea is quite polluted off Langkawi. The Mangrove swamps seem to be beautiful and there are some lovely waterfalls.

Having had to wade through the mangrove swamps in rubber boots when at uni, calling them beautiful doesn't actually gel with me

Sq232 arrive 17:35. and sq221 depart 20:40. I am going to be comparing all the time I guess. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Times change-just looking and it seems we took 11 photos during our trip to Langkawi in 1991!
I remember our travel agent (can't remember when we last used one) had booked us into J for one hop & we got to listen to Dolly & Kenny Rogers on tv while we sat in a very small airport lounge.
