Just shopped at Spectrum Photograhics and purchased an item I was told was $20. When it is rung up it comes to just $19.90. I ask, can you round that to $20 please to odd looks from salesperson. Arrived home to a credit email. Nice.

Not sure about 19.90 but I got $5 credit from $19.99 (last promo). You could have saved 1c.

E-mailed them last Wednesday, chased them up today and they said OK you've whinged about 6 merchants but you've only got 4 quota left so we will credit you the 4x and that's the end of it. The first lot of 6's were done by the usual support team, this second lot seems to be sorted out by the actual Shop Small promo team.

Hopefully the credit will hit my account soonish.

Yeah, I thought I'd go to Duncan's bottle shop up the road a bit the other day, instead of Liquorland which is closer, to get a bottle of my fave red, knowing full well it was going to be more expensive than the price I pay at Dan's, but with the $10 credit, I was guessing I would maybe end up $7.00 in front.

Not surprising, there were a heap of bottles all at $19.90, including the red I wanted. I swear I checked the price at this store previously and this bottle was ~$23 or maybe more. Anyway, I purchased the red & a stubby of beer to get me over $20 (it's not like it's going to go to waste ). I have not received any notification that this transaction has attracted the Shop Small bonus. TBH, the way this Duncan's fixes it's prices, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't actually participating in the promo, but just has the sign up to get the extra business. Ok, that's probably not true. I try to avoid this place because of their prices and the way they "bonus" things up, but sometimes, when your passing that way, well....

My second lot of credit has come through and they're listed as "AMERICAN EXPRESS PROMOTION CREDIT" whereas the first lot as "CREDIT ADJUSTMENT".

My always come as "Shop Small CR" thought, with the merchant name on the top.

Amex have different offers in different countries, but have been changing them around. Here is the UK offer. Extremely generous IMHO.

Shop Small Save this offer to your Card to get a £5 statement credit when you spend £10+ at participating small businesses in-store between 6-21 December 2014.

Only applies once per merchant, but is still better than a 10 transaction cap.

But, there is no cap - assuming you have multiple cards or multiple merchants to visit.... The cap is only per merchant, not overall.

Just an update. After my email to AMEX about 2 restaurants that did not want to take the card, the customer service got back to me pretty soon. Today I have received the $10 x 2 as promise, roughly one week after the refused transaction. Impressed with AMEX customer service.

So I had a balance payable of around $8000, I had a shop small credit of $10 posted before the due date, I paid $8000-$10=$7990 for example as it was showing as balance owing.
Today I got my latest statement with a whoping late payment charge for over $220!!!!

Called them to get an explanation and they said I had made an under payment by exactly $10 hence the charge.

But they were happy to remove the charge and said that in future I should pay the full balance even if I get shop small credits during the month.

Almost had a heartattack!!

Its good to see they did that without too much hassle, itd be an easy mistake to make re the balance owing when a credit is involved.

That's very odd. Those credits have always applied to my owing balance on the charge card. I think there was an error somewhere and the phone operator made some cough up on the spot.

This isn't just a 1:1 anecdote either, I have and can provide at least 10 statements with credits that have worked properly. I only ever pay off the lower, credit adjusted amount.

Yes they noticed what caused it straight away and didn't even hesitate to offer to credit it. I was looking at the Total balance part of the website, rather than the payment due.. You only make that mistake once, feel disappointed as I've had a perfect payment record with AMEX since getting my card a year and half ago.
I even got an offer to upgrade to Platinum card few days ago, with 40,000 bonus MR points hope they don't take the offer away, although I'm still thinking about it @ $1200 a year. As well as I am worried that I will not be able to go back to green charge card if I want to as they don't offer it anymore.

In previous shop small promotions i've always just paid total balance minus the shop small credits and never had an issue which is why I got a big shock this time!
