Hey everyone,

I just got an email from expertflyer promoting some sort of compo-seeking business. Essentially I understand it to somehow go through your emails, find delayed/cancelled flights, and then seek compo for you, charging 30% of whatever "they" get back for you.

Does anyone have more knowledge of this thing? It sounds a bit dodgy to me, but then I am someone who distrusts such simple things as "tripit" :)

I got the email too. Sounds a bit like the EU261 compo companies

I had a series of flights on line in some sort of auto-generated itinerary (tripcase? tripwallet? something like that, never used it before but it was automatic when booking Oman Air). I added other flights in as I built my itinerary. One of those flights turned out to be delayed and I got an email advising I get compensation for it as it was an eligible flight. But I had the choice to either file myself, or use their link. In the latter the company would take their share.

The advantage of using those companies is that you don't have to deal with the airline, and they generally only take your case if they are pretty sure they will be successful. They have access to airline systems to work out the exact cause of the delay, so you're not chasing something the airline will claim is extraordinary circumstances.
