Recently received an email from Aust Post which states USA and some Asian countries are almost back on track for postage . I sent a parcel to California on 12th August and it arrived 18th.
Anyone have a current idea how long parcels are taking to UK ?

I posted something to London on Friday last week and was told 7-14 days...

I want to send a parcel to the UK because I am obviously not going for Christmas and the costs are extraordinary. There must be a cheaper way

I just noticed some previous discussion on a similar thread:

I know letters are getting from NZ to UK, Spain and Germany. Used to send parcels also but now do most shopping on-line. In the past, the time to the country was a few days but then once in the country the hold ups were terrible.

I was posted an express international pouch from Perth on the 6th of August and arrived to me in the UK on the 25th.

Another package coming from NSW was posted on the 3rd which hasn't arrived yet and the last Auspost update is from the 11th 'Cleared by air carrier' no updates since.

Both parcels have had multiple entries which state cleared and awaiting international departure which I interpret as once a plane going in the right direction has non-priority load capacity then it'll go.

I'd allow for at a minimum of 3 weeks from postage. If you're in a hurry then DHL or TNT are the way to go which will take 5-7 days. You can book with DHL online but be prepared to pay over $100. As a reference the international express pouch I received cost $47 to ship

In the reverse direction.

I had a parcel dispatched from the UK on 4th August by standard mail with an ETA of 22nd to 30th September.

It arrived here 24th August.

With daughter and husband in the UK I’ve been sending regular care packages - the last one waited at Melbourne airport for a month before it was actually sent! APost tracker kept telling me where it was. All up it was at least six weeks door to door.

Reverse for me too. 2 parcels came from the UK, both posted at the same time on 31 July. One arrived on 7 August, the other 19 August.

DHL all the way. Don’t even think about using AusPost UK mail just now.
An alternative cheaper and better option is often to buy online in the county you are sending the gift.
Particularly for UK, don't forget there is Amazon.

For what it's worth, coming back to Australia the ASOS order I placed last week has taken a few days to move along, but they reckon delivery in 14 days from order date to Melbourne.

I’d be using a third party anyway to send them. Don’t know what the equivalent is here but for the UK there are numerous British Lolly Shops that ship online.

Sadly Fruchocs are only SA based and impossible to buy in the UK. I will check out DHL 🤞

Add some extra time if in Melbourne.
Parcels are up nearly 200% and some parcels/letters are being sent to Sydney and Adelaide to be sorted.
