I just noticed that there are currently five people selling QFF points on eBay at rates of:

  • 60k points currently $999 with 2 bids (2 days to go) = 0.016 / point
  • 30K points currently $500 with 2 bids (3 days to go) = 0.016 / point
  • 24K points currently $435 with 6 bids (2 days to go) = 0.018 / point
  • 24k points currently $400 with 12 bids (1 day to go) = 0.016 / point
  • 20k points currently $335 with 21 bids (2 days to go) = 0.017 / point

This is against the terms and conditions of the points but don't see how they can stop it? All have reasonable feedback so do appear genuine.

I think your maths is off, it should be dollars not cents.

Also would the only way of transfering these points be family transfer?

The guy selling 60k points has inadvertently put his FF number and address up on the screen which shows that his sale is genuine but the person buying risks getting their points stripped for breaching the T&C???

Yeah, family transfer would be the only way to transfer.

Maths is ok but I have expressed it poorly - will correct... thanks.

Not only that but home address. I personally hope they have their account closed permanently. Family transfer is one per year. Interesting. Pity the poor fool that buys them.

Genuine assuming it is his account balance to sell.

Let's hope they are not hacked qff accounts?

How stupid could you be...........I hope QFF wipes that account.............and don't people realise credit card sign on bonus points are so much cheaper and less risk

Stupid, I'd agree. But why the pleasure in seeing pain afflicted on others? Not a very attractive look in my opinion.

Well I would say it is likely Red roo would look at this thread sometime and i would expect QFF would be on to the case.Sellers probably would have their account wiped(AA do this) and buyers would have a whole lot of nothing.

Using 'hacked' eBay accounts isn't unusual - often explains the legit feedback. So could be both hacked eBay and QFF accounts, hard to jump to conclusions but regardless somebody is being a tad too opportunistic. Didn't a QF staffer get done for siphoning points of people's accounts a few years back even?

What pleasure can you see? that I hope the account gets wiped? or should they plead it was an innocent mistake and will not happen again pretty please let me keep my points

T&C are there to protect and should be enforced.

I would be very concerned about buying points this way.

I would not do it.

Qantas has pulled auctions before and will pull them this time. Just watch and wait.

The sellers are stupid and assuming everything is kosher (ie not hacked. Accounts) can expect an audit and potential closure of their accounts soon.

An account closure would make life pretty difficult as you would have to become dependent on another family member probably for all time. Our family treats points in frequent flyer accounts carefully and we redeem frequently. There is no need to cheat anyone in the process. Always read the terms and conditions and treat each of your points accounts as if they are a bank term deposit.
You sleep better if you stay within the rules.

Ebay sales have not been pulled.

80,000 points for $1,280 so far the top of the pops sale.

As I said, Qantas has pulled auctions before. Let's see if these get pulled or remain...

There has been some recent "won" auctions, and the feedback from buyers has been relatively good (in most, not all cases), but it's certainly not something I would want to risk.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Interesting to note that the same eBay member is currently "winning" each of those auctions. This winning member is a newby with zero feedback. I wonder if its a Red Roo eBay account from the QFF Audit Team. Would be one way to find out the selling members.

Ebay only pull auctions when they feel like it or if they are clearly illegal

It is in their interest to let as much sell as possible so they earn more $$
