Selling QFF points on eBay

Incentive to pay via "Bank deposit" by adding more free points if paid that way is against Ebay policy. They prefer "Paypal" and anyone that tries to discourage or make more attractive by paying by other means is frowned upon. Most likely removed by Ebay for this reason. Ebay wont send email "suggesting" the seller removes, Ebay will just do the removing.

Being nosey again today to see what people are offering Qantas wise and low and behold a pair of CL bag tags are currently going for a little over $200 with just over 3 days to go. Not the right spirit from a mighty CL member out there and I cannot believe people willing to pay such money for a black coloured coffee coaster!

I do hope the CL'er is not a member of AFF!!

I'm thinking most CL's could earn >200 in the time it takes to organize and manage an online auction...

Except maybe the former speaker of the house.

Why? He's not exactly unemployed... he's still on a base salary of $185,000.

But he by reports has a potentially large legal bill if he continues his current legal stoush as the Govt has withdrawn from the case and apparently not going to pick up the tab.

In which case I wouldn't have thought $200 would do him much good - probably pay for a five minute phone call with his lawyers!

Looking at those dates how does s/he get around the once every 12 month transfer, or they might have access to multiple accounts

Very intriguing thread. Just a thought - Maybe most these points were earned from credit card points. Given it is effectively free to open up Qantas accounts, you could open up multiple accounts and then transfer points from credit cards into multiple Qantas accounts and therefore be able to transfer over 100K to multiple "winners" of the auctions. Then again I am probably overcomplicating the issue, and the person is just selling family members points.

Alternatively, maybe they have discovered that Qantas don't actually enforce the 100K, one family member limits. I have never transferred points so I speak with absolutely no knowledge on the process.

There is one there today that has 65,000 points for $760 (1.2 cents per point). Pretty cheap price, but I'd be too worried about getting caught lol.

Just thinking that it's not bad when you think that I'm effectively paying Woolies 2c per point every time I take advantage of a fuel "saving" offer (I take points over the discount).

I know I'm not actually PAYING that amount (but rather forgoing the equivalent saving on the fuel), but it's still a real cost per point.

Its 67500 points for a $500 woolies gift card

And no one here takes that exchange rate as their baseline. Even redeeming coughpy value whY seats I value points at 1c/point.

It is against the QF rules to resell their points.
You can have all your rellies use them for travel or you can redeem them on toasters and other merchandise.

I don't find anything wrong with selling points - if you have a willing buyer and seller, then it's a win-win situation. I've had the opportunity to transfer points to others in the past because I find that they value points much higher than myself.

I have 200k+ points that I have no need for, so I will eventually post on eBay or Gumtree

And if you are found to be breaching the program T&Cs as you propose, your account will be shut down and likely banned for life.

And chances are you will either have your auction/listing cancelled, or your FF account and forfeiture of all points.

It's a strict violation of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to sell points, and also, points transfers are only between family members. Simply saying the purchaser is your 'brother in law' is fraud, and I would not be surprised if QF actually pursued legal action for it.

If you have no need for them, give them to a family member that does and they can give you a gift of equivalent value, that is permitted. Or, actually go around the world for 140k, or splurge on a shorter J or F flight return. Enjoy them, you've earned them.
