Ok thanks for that.

I presume that CL,WP are types of membership..Platinum/gold etc?

That being said, is my best bet to get to the airport first & hope that not all the emergency exit seats have been taken by these pesky CL & WP's?

Have a look through this thread for some background on the jargon used here.

That the best plan. But remember that people making domestic connections to your international flight will have a shot at that "early checkin" hours before the international gateway check-in opens for business.

Thanks NM, fingers crossed I might someday reach the hallowed heights of Plebian Silver (PS), or at least Nuthin Bronze (NB)!

Every member of Qantas Frequent Flyer is at least Bronze - its the non-status status.

Did you get the upgrade OPTICS?

I've requested a J to F on 30 May LAX - SYD. Seats still available for sale (F) at the moment .

Perhaps NB should be named "Claytons" status. The status you have when you don't have status. :D

Well we got back today...the upgrade didnt come through on the outward leg, a full plane meant we had to keep what we were given. And yes, the bulkhead armrests were fixed, and slightly jutting out, which made for a less than comfortable journey for my other half at 6'3", as he couldn't even stretch his legs over to my allocated space - he said he'd prefer sitting behind another chair in future...so much for the Qantas phone staff knowledge!

But then for the return journey, I checked my booking on the Qantas site about 6 hours before departure to find the wonderful words "Business class - confirmed"!

A far more enjoyable experience all round :)

Thanks for all your tips...

As in N for nufin' ...
Bronze must be a status! OK, not many benefits but just the same still a status. You are a member of the Qantas FFP which is better than those that are not. You still get to accumulate SC's and FF points.

Fair enough; you'll need to take this up with those who attended the original FT meeting - BNE QC, 21 Feb, 2.30pm onwards where this terminology was apparently coined.

I have no problems with the terminology coined for the different QF statuses. So if the term NB was coined surely it suggests that it was regarded a status at the meeting otherwise it would have been ignored.

It is sad when some people with "so-called" status love to rattle off the list of who is important in the FFP food chain and love to remind lowly status members of the Qantas FFP who frequent AFF that they have "no status". We all had to start from somewhere!

True for almost everyone. Further, without no status and non-FFP pax who make the majority of pax, the airlines wouldn't be around.

Exactly!

I read the signature of one FT'er which is very valid in this situation. It goes something like this "Never look down on anyone unless you are trying to help them up".

AFF Rocks

Facilities like this AFF forum are really good for helping people up.

I believe I would never have attained QF WP without the assistance and advice given on this forum (and FT).
