>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Oz and strait,

Thanks for the prompt replies.

Strait, why would you choose 3AB or 4 over upper deck?

I think I remember reading that upper deck has slightly longer beds, or am I making this up? I'm 6'2" and Mrs Z will be 6 months pregnant so space is an important factor.

Have read conflicting opinions on lower vs upper deck and have no personal experience of flying J in 747.

Thanks,

Zeit
I love upstairs on a 744 but I love the wide open spaces of the nose even more.

I don't know if the beds are any longer on the upper deck. I have done 2A from FRA to SYD and I must say I like the mini cabin feel you get there. As well at that time the mrs. had quite some bulky hand luggage and the cabinet at the front was handy for that. For my next return trip to LON in Jun/Jul I have 16A on QF and 62K on BA both emergency exit upper deck.

Ok I've gone for 3AB - like the idea of open space and turning left (I'll pretend it's F :D).

I'm guessing there isn't much to choose between 3AB and any other seat combo in row 4 but please let me know if otherwise.

Cheers,

Zeit

I'm flying PE SYD-LHR on QF31 on Monday (21/3). I've just been given the option to select my seat but the only choice it has given me is 36E. I'm really not all that happy with that because that is the middle of a group of 3 seats.

I've put in an upgrade request to J, but because I'm only a Bronze FF, the chances of that are very low :( Can someone please tell me what are the chances are of getting anything other than that 36E seat. I'd really like an aisle seat.

TIA,
Lisa

PE is sold out on your flight but not Business (which makes your upgrade chances a little better):

F2 A2 J9 C9 D7 I1 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 S7 N2 Q1 O1 G0 E0

A seat map does indeed show 36E as available for pre-selection. For this WP, the only other clear options are that and 34J (34D/E/F and 38E are showing as blocked, but not allocated).

All other seats are pre-selected.

Thanks Serfty. I ended up calling Qantas and they said that 36E and 38E were my only options. I'll keep my fingers crossed for an upgrade or hope that it can get changed at checkin.

Is anyone able to look at QF 548 SYD-BNE for next Friday 35/3 please ? booked in Y on a red e deal but would like an idea of how full the flight is at this stage.
Cheers

In an A330-200 Intl config J class bulk head seat

Where is the TV screen. bulk head or in the seat.

I have never seen a inseat TV screen for skybed 1, but have read this is where they are. want to catch up watching movies from take off, not after the seatbelt light goes out

Thanks Andy:arrow:

ISTR it's a fold out tv on row 1 in the 330 (like the bulkhead/exit seats in the 744).
Happy to be corrected though.

Serfty, many thanks. Just a little puzzled why would they (QF) let a NB the ability to select a PE seat on O class ticket!
Perhaps it is a very lightly loaded flight with not many status members on board. Either way I mean no offence, but is a little disappointing to see passengers with no status allowed to pre-select premium seats.

Anyway best to leave that discussion for another thread....

P.S Is QF using 4 class aircraft on the FRA-SYD services? I thought the old 2 class 747s were converted to 3 class and strictly sold as Business , premium economy and economy and no option to sneak into the next cabin as is the case with 747s on USA routes.

Sometimes they use 4 class; more so at the moment as the 2 class are being taken out of service to have PE seating installed, making them three class.

It's not just for FRA; NRT has the same issue. Last Month we travelled on a three class for a booking that was originally made in 2009. However, the orginal booking as for a 333; the SYD/NRT went to 744. Initially a two class (Y seats), then a three class, then a four class (PE seats :D), than back a three class:(.

Speaking of qf5

can someone look at it for april 2 and tell me how many classes it is?

I spent a great deal of time picking a low first class load flight fro a potential upgrade and after work delayed and delayed in approving it i suspect i am on a 2 or 3 class flight excluding first as it got booked today

Re: Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Can anyone with EF tell me if the Q-Blocking for QF574 on the 2/4 (Saturday) is indicating a potential change to 737 instead of the -ZX 767?

Still a ZX ... row 43 exit seats remain unallocated.

Wide open: J9 D4 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q7 G0 X9 E9

Row 43 is great, but currently the only thing open to me is Row 5 with the new seat selection option

Well I guess most Business class seats are better than economy.

If you do get a switch to a 737, at least the seats in business are the same.
