Was provided a very welcome “shadow” on my recent flight SYD to MNL - absolutely full flight and was the only empty seat in either Y or J. No chance it was luck, being platinum they clearly looked after me.

Was also welcomed by name and offered drinks service well prior to the general Y service offerings.

Felt very appreciated and all FA’s very friendly, flight was delayed for about 2 hours with a lot of that on the tarmac loaded due to SYD weather issues preventing take off/restricted to one runway.

Furthermore, I had flown in day prior from MEL due to connect same day to MNL but came down unwell so asked to move my flight by one day allowing me to recover overnight in SYD, was accommodated immediately with no fuss, bags were offloaded (as I had already been checked through) and able to collect them a few hours later.

An overall great experience and does show value to status is still present. Thanks Qantas.

I had a similar-ish experience PER-SIN earlier this week. Greeted by name after boarding was complete and had a shadow seat on a very full flight. Wasn't offered extra beverages though, which is a shame - I always try to ask for green tea in Y knowing that it's 100% available in J, but haven't been able to snag it yet. Thankfully the flight home will be J so won't face similar issues. ;)

I have had such sometimes, most recently earlier this year from SIN to SYD.

On that occasion, I was aisle in first row of 3 down back on an A330, shadow in middle, tall (190cm+) dude in other aisle seat. I was specifically greeted and initially offered vacant exit seat but I politely declined as was OK where I was (not into exits on A330).

Plan B was dude in other seat of the three being offered that exit seat which thay happily took - leaving me with a row of three to myself. J Bubbles offerred as well.🥂
