Has anybody experienced difficulties with this? The QF website does not seem to be able to allocate seats and hold the allocation. The seats seem to be able to be selected by plugging the reservation number into the EK website, but I'm not sure if this is a valid approach that will hold up?

I can't see why doing it on the EK website wouldn't work.

Generally I would always go to the operating airline website to request seats rather than gamble on integrated systems across airlines.

Have seen the problem in the last couple of days on a booking with 3 QF codeshares and 1 EK flight number. Only aisle/window preferences available on the EK flight. Seat selection on the other 3 held first for one flight, then for 2 flights in a later attempt. But not for the 3rd QF codeshare flight. Call centre advised there is a known problem that they are working to fix.

I may be lucky here.

No issue with selecting / holding the J seats for some 10 days now - on QF MMB.

Once inside the EK site using QF booking number, all seat selections are shown as "confirmed".

Of interest, EK generated a new/different booking number as well.

What's that for, I am not sure yet.

A quick google search found that EK use Gallileo rather than Amadeus that is used by QF. As such you would have different booking references in the two systems.

I've also had no problems selecting seats on the two QF codeshares I have booked as part of a European itinerary I have booked for later this year.

When I first attempted to allocate seats the booking had not yet ticketed and accordingly I couldn't select seats at all. Since then though I have moved my seats a few times and there have been no problems whatsoever.

No problems here either. Seat selections (via QF website) appear to have stuck.

Have just booked Adelaide to LHR return via Dubai for later this year, all QF numbers but EK metal. Selected my seats for all 4 sectors as 21H, 45C, 45C, 21D, pressed finish and printed the Advance Seat Selection Confirmation page and found that instead of my choice I have been allocated 30H, 44H, 43H and 29H, has anyone else experienced this?

I've got a LHR-DXB-PER return this weekend. First 3 sectors on EK metal, final sector on QF. All booked with QF flight numbers. I can select seats for all sectors on qantas.com, but when I look at emirates.com, only the EK metal flights have the seats allocated, for QF009 it says no seat selected. If I attempt to select it on emirates.com, the upper deck availability is very different to what I see on qantas.com. I hope the original seat selection sticks!

Cannot allocate seats either on qf or ek sites for a TT EK codeshare

So now I have a different seat assigned for QF9 when looking at itinerary on qantas.com compared to emirates.com. First sector on EK so have to check in with them. Which one should I believe? I called QF and they said theirs is correct. Called EK and they said theirs is correct. Hmmm.

Generally the operating carrier's PNR in relation to each segment should be the one you concentrate upon.

Check, recheck and check again.

To be honest I try to avoid codeshares for reasons such as this.
