I have secured FF B/C seats from Aust to Dubai return but we connect in a separate booking from Dubai to Milan. When I log into the Emirates site I do not have access to emergency exit seats or the economy seats upstairs on the 380. Emirates in Australia say they can't assist with seat allocation for that leg as it commences outside Aust. Does anyone know a way to get this done?

IIRC, EK didn't allocate exit seats until the flights are under airport control (or at check-in).

As for Economy seats on the upper deck, this sounds like the new 2-class bird, not sure on that though?

Emirates A380s don't have economy seating on the upper deck. They configure the A380 with first and business upstairs and the whole of the main deck is economy.

You can't select exit row before check-in, nor are they sold at a premium beforehand. Are you transiting at DXB, or stopping over? If transiting then when checking in at the airport for your Aust->DXB flight you should be able to get your BP for your DXB->MXP flight at the same time and also have your luggage checked through.

You should be able to log in to Manage My Booking at emirates.com with your PNR and select any free economy seat.

I believe EK are having 2-class birds being delivered within the near future.

Although I haven't seen the seat map yet, I believe I may have read that there will be an economy section on the upper deck.

Thanks for the tip but they don't have any in service and not for some while yet. I've had a search and found an AusBT article from April stating EK won't have one till the end of the year with the first on the Copenhagen route, and they will be put it on routes with high demand for seats. pthomson didn't say when he/she was flying, so unless the flight is next year and considering MXP is serviced with mostly 777s I think it would be very unlikely he/she would be flying on one of the 615-seat A380s.

I never said there were any of those 380's in service yet, but considering that the OP never mentioned date, we could be talking of anywhere up until May next year.

As for MXP and equipment, isn't it currently 2x777 and 1x380?

If the OP is trying to select seats using the EK MMB site, I see no reason to doubt that they may be on one of the newer two class 380's that EK have coming.

I'm not saying you did, all I'm stating is it is very unlikely to have the new configuration for these reasons: they aren't in service yet; there won't be any in service for seven months and only then on one route announced; on the route in question the majority services are 777s anyway. If the OP is hoping to select an upper deck economy seat on EK on this route in the next several months then he/she has both an explanation why not and to be prepared for disappointment.
