When do airlines open up seats that are blocked for Status flyers, can you access those blocked seats at online checkin for lower status flyers? Or have to wait till we get to the checking counter.

80hr before departure appears to be a magical period when seats get opened up, although some seats remain blocked for particular flyers. It really is a bit of lottery at the end of the day.

Re: Seat blocking

We leave in 30 hrs and plane plans haven't moved

Re: Seat blocking

Which airline are you taking? That would be a start.

T-80 applies to QF domestic flights.

Re: Seat blocking

Probably full flight, just curious when they realese the seats.

Re: Seat blocking

I had a look on EF.
X9 and only about 30 seats allocated so it doesn't seem at all busy.
Don't know when more seats might be released, maybe with OLCI?

Re: Seat blocking

T-80 is more noticeable as a Qantas domestic thing ...

Allocated seats don't tend to mean much in terms of a flights load...

Re: Seat blocking

Don't they block out seats throughout the aircraft when there is a light load for weight distribution purposes to avoid everyone bunching up near the front?
