Hi everyone here. Have an issue with seating allocation, hoping someone can advise me.

Mr E and I are heading to LA this coming wed on Air NZ. I didn't recall Air NZ asking me to select a seat at the point of booking. We jumped onto the website and realise the seats for leg from Auckland to LA was all taken (grey out) except 2 separate seats (one in the middle and another near to the tail of the plane). One seat is preferred seating which comes with a $30 charge.

We do not want to pay for it since we are not going to sit together. Plus why I need to pay $30 for a seat which I don't select it at all. So can we sit together and not paying the charge?

Cheers and thanks in advance

I doubt Air NZ permit the pre selection of every seat.

I suspect you will find yourselves seated together on check-in. (Although they may not be the best seats.)

What flight number is it? Perhaps someone with Expert Flyer / KVS can generate a seat map for you.

Thanks Ashley. We were only offered B49 and F43 (Preferred Seating) when we logon. Looks like there may be no chance of getting the seats beforehand. We bought the tickets way back in Oct 12 and the Seat Select was launched in Nov 12. We were then not notified to logon to pick our seats. :( The only chance is to get to the AP early and ask for early since selecting seat online doesn't guarantee you the seats either.
