I am very glad to say that I have 1A! I was offered 7E but thanks to the help I received here which meant that I knew 1A was free, I said that I would prefer a window seat like I had previously booked. and she then offered me 1A!

AFF was a great help, thanks.
Could you tell us what your original seat selection was, out of curiousity?

If they do downgrade you, go with SQ, meaning change all your flying to SQi and VAd for dom travel in Aust.
Of course, do a moan on fecebook messaging to QFF first.
There is always the "for operational and safety reasons, we can amend your preferred seats" or words to that effect.
Guess OP would be ready to go to the airport by now, ... hopefully it all comes good tho.
It's a status run poochie.

I wonder if the aircraft type was subbed from A333 to A332 at some point in the last couple of days (then perhaps subbed back) as 9 of the sub-fleet don't have a 5K in Business...

As a P1 in J (revenue) travelling with a WP (U) and NB (U) we have been 'complementary' downgraded to Y in the past. This was for the domestic connection from delayed international US-AU flight.

This was a missed connection? This scenario is different because they won’t move pax on a confirmed flight in J to accommodate misconnected pax.

My comment refers to international downgrades, generally due to equipment swaps resulting in less J seats.

Veering OT Townsend, if I may, how did you do your DPD?
I mean like having to wave smart mobile phone over passport, without opening the pages, supposedly, we are supposed to be able to use the the mobile smart phone to read the rfid.
And then doing the selfie.
Easy/Hard?
Dare I ask, did you use an android phone.
I don't have an iphone, but have andriod phone.
Thanks.
Have been watching those youtube videos, and reading up on Aust DPD.
Yes, it does have it good points, but it would take at least an hour to do.
This is the new downside to int flying, unless I bring my laptop for overseas travel.

Don't bother with the DPD app, just use the webform.

I am afraid that we filled the whole webform in. It definitely is not the most user friendly friendly thing I hve ever done and I do have an iphone.

I needed a photo of the front page of my passport and a photo of the Australian Government’ vaccination Certificate. If you copy the qr code it will populate the form making it a little quicker. You can only put two flights in though

The DPD takes only a few minutes. It scans your passport page. The selfie is easy. Scanning the vaccination QR code populates everything. The only delay was that after the vaccinations are populated it’s not clear you have to continue to scroll down the screen to confirm. Once i’d worked that out it was easy.

The app also populates all the flight details.

Looks like something we'll have to do for our upcoming trip to DFW, what is the DPD please?

what is the DPD please?

Not pleasant reading. :(

DPD is that yellow form, that we used to get to fill in on return to Aust, papery card board sort of thing.
Easy to fill in, as we know what to write.
There used to be the green OPC, but that one is no longer used.
The yellow form, or IPC, is the one you fill in on the plane, at your leisure, with a biro/pen.
You can fill it out before too, as you could have taken some when you come in previous trips.
Now, its all app or webform, so you will need either a mobile phone, or laptop, or computer where you can fill in data, and take photo of passport data page and selfie.
Quite onerous.
If you don't have a smartphone, you will need a laptop or computer, which is secure, ie, not a public one where there might be keyloggers on it.
Last one from me on this, really, it puts a dampner on int trips.
Bring a laptop, and international charger, and 7 days before trip back to Aust, you can fill in a few things, but 72 hours before trip back, you have to lodge the DPD electronically, for every pax.
Youtube has some videos on how to do it, some on here way its easy, some say complicated.
And no, I haven't filled one in, yet.
Have to create an account, and put in password, too.
Ie, more data for them to know about us.

It’s not something to do an hour before you leave your hotel for the airport! I’m glad I decided to have a go the night before when prompted by my airline as part of the check in process.

As long as you are relaxed, have a cup of tea with you, it’s fairly straight forward and easy… the only confusing part was after you scan the QR code from your paper vaccine certificate there’s a button with something like ‘submit’. If you click that button it takes you back to the previous page. You need to scroll right down and click the second ‘submit button’… after the section where it has pre-populated your vaccine doses. Then the rest of the form is easy.
