Hey guys, hope you are well since the last time I posted here! I'm really looking forward at the possibility of meeting some old friends made on my visit to Australia in 2009. I have finally made up my mind of another trip to the region on a similar arrangement, I'll be spending up to 6 months in Singapore on a work holiday programme, hopefully employed enough to support myself while there and most importantly doing some weekend travel around the region.

After returning from Australia I was fortunate enough to rake up some mileage thanks to generous US credit card offers. I'm using miles from the British Airways visa card promo to fly Cathay Pacific to Singapore. However I'm still poor and would rather use my funds wisely around SE Asia especially since most of my travel will be for a day or two, without luggage and typically on a strict budget.

So all that being said..... are you aware of any SE Asian budget airline forums out there? I have had little luck finding anything on Google... the only posts that come up are old and irrelevant.

I am especially interested in discussion of the AirAsia free seats / pay tax only promos... or the Tiger Airways $1 / pay tax promos.

Obviously if a great deal pops up on a legacy carrier I'm sure I'll jump on it. So is there any Singapore based frequent flyer forum?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers!

there is an sqtalk forum that a few members here post on.

otherwise jetstar asia has friday sales that are often reported on this site

If you use Facebook, consider 'liking' the Air Asia and or the Tiger page - it's usually one of the first places they 'hint' and release sale fare information.

Air Asia have also started a 'Fabulous Fly-day' sale which is every friday.

When looking for LCC fares, I usually start with;

Air Asia Plus
Tiger Airways Plus
Jetstar Search

I find those site are the quickest to locate their promo fares.

(Note: I am not affiliated with any of those sites)

When they do have sales, I would suggest using their equivalent Mobi site (if they have one) as their main websites usually (always) crash under the load.

Lastly, remember you can use the Jetstar price beat guarantee

I will have to start watching Jetstar fares closely... I booked a $33USD one way fare from Manila to Singapore on Cebu Pacific (never flown them before and wanted to add them to the list of airlines flown) Of course the date I booked it for coincides with OZ fest... so perhaps I could find a cheapo flight on Jetstar SIN-DRW and then DRW-MNL but of course at this point its pricey as hell... well maybe not as hell, but on my budget... still pricey!

With Cebu Pacific, I suggest you pay for exit row seating, they seem to have a very high density seating on their A320s, and my flight with them last month was a little cramped in their standard rows, but a previous flight in exit row was better. I dont think its so expensive to choose. Also they have a 15kg limit but I imagine you are travelling light so maybe not an issue for you (although an extra 5kg was just 120HKD - 17AUD).
