Hmm...will Scoot be forced to pay crew in AUD or SGD wage conditions? If in SGD (+ wages and conditions), how is this different to a JQ Int foreign based flight crew?
They dont have international crew doing domestic sectors - ie JQ35 which is mostly Thai on 2K a month.
So OOL is now officially the LCC terminal for BNE :mrgreen:
Gives Gold Coast residents a cheap way to Singapore and onward connections as well as drawing tourists into the GC from SE Asia, will be interesting to see how they go....

Thats a pretty good wage for a Thai resident.
I would have thought Air Asia were already serving the purpose!

Oh I agree - but reckon its nice for people to have the choice of KUL or SIN.
<off topic>
But not such a great wage for an Australian. Xenophon would argue that these routes (tag flights) should be operated by Australian on Australian wages, else the latter because we uphold an equality ideal in this country which means people doing a job in Australia should do so at the standard award rate.
Supposedly, though D7 had an excellent hub in KUL for the purposes of sending people to their real destinations (like Bali, Indonesia, Thailand etc.)
Besides, the budget conscious traveller probably would enjoy themselves more in KUL than in SIN (latter is more of a splurge).
As it stands, hubs aside it really is just Singapore Airlines trying to "get into the game".
It will be interesting to see how Scoot will network from SIN, or rely on connections with SQ or MI, in order to compete with something like D7/AK/etc.

Scoot is not entirely about bringing Australians to SE Asia, the other way around is also as, if not more important. People travel to SIN-OOL via KUL but obviously would prefer not to have the >3hr detour north. I am sure Scoot will be very focussed on its home market, taking (even more) locals to the world. After all SIN is a small island, and travel I think is no 3. national pastime after shopping and eating.
