Scoot Sale SYD - SIN Biz 630 Return

Given the recent QF sale to SIN for about the same price this begs the question - what is better out of Scoot Biz (i.e. Y+) and QF (or SQ) Y?

Smoking hot price for ScootBiz....

Re Y+ vs Y - on a day flight - would probably pick QF/SQ due to slightly better food, generally better IFE (and lounge access)
- on a night flight (ie the leg back to Australia) - definitely Y+ for the extra room
- and given QF/SQ are generally extortionate for one-way fares, most recently I have flown Scoot and AirAsiaX to/from Asia, paying up for the Biz on the way back

JQ Biz more recently is nearer $1000 one-way (a bit cheaper if booked out of Asia)
(and $200 more if you want the SCs with the Max pack)

IME having flown all classes on each carrier & IMO would sway towards QF & SQ at a similar price range. Scootbiz is nothing special, though similar space to PE, the catering & IFE is awful.

Interesting when trying a Sydney - coughet flight` I get told no flights available and look at singaporeair.com

On the SQ site, no options including scoot and fares (are naturally) more expensive

I can't believe they are making money if lead in fares require that sort of pricing. They'll need to be generating huge ancillary revenue to get anywhere near break even.

You could hardly do SYD-Mel-SYD in y for that y price.

I am finding $262 SYD-SIN return with the bare bones package. That's crazy prices!! eg. date 9/2 - 17/2

I try earlier this morning and couldn't get past the search screen.

What happens when you add luggage, meal and beverages, golf clubs and seat selection?

Roughly meals are like from $13, checked luggage $34/20kgs, seat select say $20, these are each way prices.

These fares are cheap as I only have carry-on if I go to Singapore, I BYO meals/snacks and I do pay for seat selection though.

AFAIK.. you apparently can't consume BYO food on SCOOT.?
It is still a very budget airline with old aircraft, inexperienced cabin crew & ugly, uncomfortable interiors @ next to nothing prices.. so go for it.. if that is your M.O.

Once you start to add up the fare becomes ridiculously high.

Such as compulsory $8 each way for seat in 65F or $64 each way for bulkhead or $68 for quiet bulkhead each way. Assuming I can purchase 40kgs luggage for $64 each way and that covers golf clubs as well. And add SATS lounge access in SIN for $33. So far I have added ~$370 to lead-in price and I am still in SIN with awful connections to BKK.

Everytime I see one of these sales I think this could be the one but it's not that simple. Obviously I am not their target market.

Wonder if you could get JQ 'business class' to 10% price beat the the Scoot Biz???

TBH I think the scootbiz is pretty weak product. The cushion was way to firm for my liking and I'm not sure if the recline was as good as standard PE or not. The meal you get could easily be replaced by a tin of soup which would be more filling and tasty.

I'd say get the economy sale fare, pay the upgrade to the yellow seats and put the money you saved to getting an extra start on the hotel you book in singapore.

They do both fly Perth to Singapore, if they both had that product on offer on the planes they use, but they may not...

But wonder if you could do it??

JQ dont fly ool or syd to sin... so no

I was waiting for someone to forget about Perth! Maybe you should get a job in QF :D

As Scoot and Jetstar Asia compete PER-SIN but the 3K flight leaves PER at 2am and the Scoot flight leaves around 5pm I am guessing that the best price garantee won't work in this case due to the time difference in flight times?
